Juan and Marvin were great! We got to learn more about horses, ruins, history and the property. We saw lots of wildlife and history! Lunch after was refreshing and delicious! Thank you!
This was such a cool experience - we started by heading to Xunantunich, then we had a typical Belizean lunch, and then finished the day with a horseback ride through trails in the jungle to some additional small Mayan ruins. Edgar was a fantastic guide, he was incredibly knowledgeable. Would highly recommend!
Gentle horses, beautiful landscape. Ideal for beginners. Rode through the rainforest along the river to a hidden Mayan temple! Perfect timing, on the road back to to farm for sunset.
It pains me to write a bad review but in the name of safety I must. One positive is that the horses at the farm are well cared for and after they are done working they have beautiful grounds to roam freely on. I can tell their caretakers really love their animals. Fortunately there were helmets available otherwise this tour would have ended very badly for us. When we arrived at the farm, we were not asked about experience level and there was no safety briefing. I’m an experienced rider and my husband is not so I figured we’d be ok if I kept an eye on him. He was given a rather feisty horse. Part way through the ride during a stop, his horse kicked mine and mine freaked out. Nothing I can’t handle, so not a problem. When we reached the ruins, we were offered to dismount and take pictures. When my husband got back on his horse, the horse freaked out, kicked him into the next horse and onto the ground. He is very lucky that all he has are bruises. My husband said the ranch hand told him to get back on the horse and I heard them trying to blame him after. There were 4 guests, 2 guides, and 2 ranch hands. In my book there’s 0 excuses for not being more attentive to the horses and guests when people are getting on and off in close quarters instead of socializing amongst themselves. I’ve been riding since I was a kid and did not find their attention to guest safety to be acceptable. I hope they will learn from this review because it’s a really nice place to ride with river crossing and lush vegetation.
Hello Maryanne and Keith- Firstly, I apologize for the unpleasant experience you recently went through; I assure you that this is not the norm, and thank you for bringing this to our attention. For the number of years we've been operating this tour, we have not had such an occurrence. However, rest assured that we'll investigate this fully and take measures to ensure that this does not happen again. We take pride in the wonderful team we have on board, however, we'll see where things went wrong and where procedures were certainly overlooked. I sincerely hope that this does not put a damper on your Belize trip and that you continue having a wonderful time in our little corner of the world. Best regards, Edward
Amazing experience with wonderful guides! It was tranquil and the nature was beautiful. Would definitely recommend!
The tour is really fun! The horseback riding part is in a beautiful farm. The farm has woods, river, some Mayan ruins, and some parts of grassland with a gorgeous view. Very nice combination with Xunantunich.
Not going because no one else signed up for it and being charged anyway. The trip required at least 2 people but only I signed up. I cancelled but was charged anywY.
Our guide who drove us and came along for the horseback riding, Selwyn, was super friendly and very accommodating! The trail ride through the jungle was wonderful! The horses knew exactly what to do when it came to navigating muddy parts, slick rocks, and climbing steep hills. Be sure to bring your bug spray. I picked off a couple ticks from the bottom of my pant legs. Afterwards, Selwyn set up a picnic table lunch with homemade food prepared by local single mothers (chicken, beans/rice, rum punch, cole slaw, fried plantains, and chips/salsa). Everything was delicious! There are several local vendors where we picnicking, so if you're looking for a souvenir to buy, it's super convenient to stop by during lunch. We went to Xunantunich ruins after eating. Our tour guide Allyson was incredibly knowledgeable! He showed us how to climb up El Castillo and helped us take awesome photos. We had the best time all day and were so impressed!
Very educational tour of Xunantunich followed by a fun ride with the horses to a small remote ruin. The guides and the men at the stable were so welcoming and attentive to us! The horses were beautiful, and the ride was short and easy. The lunch after was lovely!
We did the horse back riding and xunantunich tour with Edgar. Edgar was so nice and informative, knew everything there was to know about the Belize rain forest and Mayan culture. We started off the day by horse back riding through trails in the jungle. We saw small Mayan ruins, both excavated and not. Edgar then took us to xunantunich which was great. Again he answered our million questions and we ended with lunch. Even in the rain, he went above and beyond to make sure we had a great day!
