Maak kennis met het verbazingwekkende Nationale Reservaat van Salinas en Aguada Blanca, de thuisbasis van een grote verscheidenheid aan dieren in het wild, waaronder inheemse en trekvogels, Zuid-Amerikaanse kameelachtigen, diverse hoge Andes-flora en, bovenal, een spectaculair uitzicht op de Salinas-lagune en de grote bergen die het omringen, zoals de Ubinas-vulkaan en Pichu Pichu.

Deze fantastische excursie begint om 6:00 uur in het historische centrum van Arequipa. De eerste stop is bij het uitkijkpunt over de vulkaan in Chiguata, waar u de imposante Misti-vulkaan kunt bewonderen. Het landschap en de Inca-terrassen maken een bezoek aan deze plek tot een onvergetelijke ervaring. We bezoeken ook een van de oudste en meest traditionele kerken in het stadje Chiguata. Wij zullen hier ook ontbijten. De prijs is ongeveer S/7.00. Dat geldt ook voor de tijd die we besteden aan reizen van de ene naar de andere plaats.
Onze reis gaat verder met transport tussen vulkanen, waarbij we queñuales en de omringende flora bekijken.
Daarna stijgen we naar het uitkijkpunt van de Pichu Pichu-vulkaan, op 4.300 meter boven zeeniveau. Vanaf dit punt hebben we een ander perspectief op de Misti-vulkaan en de stad Arequipa. Hier kunnen we buitengewone fauna (vicuña's, lama's, alpaca's en guanaco's) en flora (yaretales, queñuales) zien. De volgende stop zijn de zoutvlakte en de waterlichamen van Salinas. Afhankelijk van het seizoen kunnen we flamingo's en optische illusies waarnemen, veroorzaakt door de waterspiegels die typisch zijn voor dit natuurgebied. Hier houden we rekening met de terugkomsttijd naar de stad Arequipa

Excursion from 6am to 1pm to Laguna de Salinas. This was our second excursion with this agency (Colca Canyon full day done before). By going directly through Puriy, we paid the same Award (75 soles/person) as for Colca, for fewer services: 1/2 day excursion versus 1 full day, and breakfast is not included (contrary to what is written on their website), while it was in Colca. Other people on our bus paid much less by going through another platform/agency (?) Things to do, we were disappointed that we didn't have more time to see the animals in the reserve. On the plus side, we were a lot of French in the group and the Guide exceptionally toured in Spanish/French instead of Spanish/English. In summary, average excursion.
I traveled with them to Laguna de Salinas, my guide was Franco, he gave us a lot of information about the entire tour and above all, he helped us take photos.

19 people instead of 15 max. The minibuses are not comfortable (also full and not air-conditioned) for a stony road. We cross the volcanoes, it looks very beautiful but only 1 stop at the bottom in front of the Misti. Stops are limited to Salinas 1 hour on a 6 hour trip with a meal at 3pm. Breakfast is lousy, lunch too and expensive for the quality in a place with no view. You might as well leave 1 hour later and enjoy breakfast at the hotel. In short, barely 1 hour of stopping in the heart of the Salinas lagoon. It's great but no point of view. Already full of groups present, no walks even though the site lends itself to it. We have to leave when vicuñas cross the salt lakes... I lend my binoculars but the guide doesn't offer anything to observe them. A quick stop to photograph on the side of the Alpaca road. But quickly he goes to the thermal baths, paying for it already at 12 p.m. 1 hour wait if you don't want to do it (20c is not very hot!) at 4500 m. We're leaving for a 2-hour drive, it's 1 p.m., meal at 3 p.m. yay! .another 1 hour to return to Arequipa. And here’s the trick…

An amazing day with a super helpful and happy guide (Mario), we loved every second of it. The highlights for us were standing on the mirrored salt flat, taking in the stunning scenery, having a dip in the thermal pool and seeing lots of wild Llama & Alpacas!
