We vertellen je over onze safari. De "Thar" overspoelt drie hoofdsteden van Rajasthan - Bikaner, Jaisalmer en Jodhpur (Osian). Rond deze steden vindt men enorme eindeloze stukken zandduinen. Thar is een cultuur, een leven op zich, een thuis voor veel driedubbele, dierlijke en vogelsoorten. Je zult zeker versteld staan van dit andere soort ecosysteem dat inspireert tot barre omstandigheden in de zomer, zonder water, bloemen die bloeien (een cactussoort) en reptielen die de aarde uittrekken. De avonden zijn veel koeler dan je kunt verwachten en het is heerlijk om 's avonds tussen de zandduinen te zitten, met kampvuur aan en folkmuziek die binnen miauwt met ontelbare sterren boven je hoofd. Geïnspireerd door de THAR, is onze kameelsafari er ook naar vernoemd - DER CAMEL SAFARI omdat het je een complete smaak van de regio geeft, gecombineerd met de tradities en kleur van de aarde. Gegroet naar het schip van de woestijn - KAMEEL, zonder dit kun je het leven in deze regio van de wereld niet verwachten.

Namaskar! Onze chauffeur en gids ontmoet je bij je hotel om opgehaald te worden en rijdt naar het dorp waar we onze tour beginnen. dan rijden we ongeveer 70 km. en bereik een klein dorpje in de woestijn, bezoek dan de plaatselijke hindoetempel en maak een kameelrit, bezoek vervolgens de lokale familie in de woestijn en maaltijd met een woestijnfamilie en maak opnieuw een kameelrit, zie een prachtige zonsondergang en rijd dan terug naar het hotel

We did the camel tour on my birthday with the whole family, six of us. Chhotaram was very nice and speaks very good English, which he taught himself as an autodidact. He first showed us around the very impressive temple. Then we went through the picturesque and amazingly green desert. There were six camels waiting for us. I was a bit nervous about how easy it would be to ride the camels. My worries were unfounded, the saddles were very comfortable and safe, most of the camels were very tame and relaxed. It was beautiful to ride through the desert. There were also downhill and uphill sections, which was fun. We saw antelopes, peacocks and large lizards. There are apparently lots of snakes too, but we didn't see any. I felt like an adventurer from the 19th century. 😂 The food was delicious and the village was very well kept and it was interesting to see life in the countryside. The ride in the Jeep was an experience in itself (especially at night!), the back seat was relatively tight with six people. Overall a great experience!
Highly recommend! Especially if you can’t make it to Jaisalmer. Chhotoram’s service and company were excellent. He has a relaxed manor and is engaging to chat with on your drive to the desert (about an hour from Johdpur). The camel safari was a once in a lifetime experience. The camels and the guide were fabulous. It is something we will never forget. We visited a small village which was welcoming and so beautiful. It felt like a once in a lifetime experience.
Went with 3 friends and we all had a great time! Driver/guide was very knowledgeable about the area and personable.
My visit to Jodhpur was unplanned. I visited silawas and met Chottaram ji. He told about this Camel safari that they offer. We were 3 people and words cannot match the experience that we had. We had Camel ride of almost 1.5 hrs and home made food in some village khetasar where he took us by camels. It was unexpected and unmatched experience of Camel ride.

We loved our camel safari, the tour was well organised and communication was great. The journey to Osian is about 70-80 minutes from Jodhpur and even this was enjoyable as Chhotu was so friendly and informative on life in India and his village that this was just as fun as the camel safari. The camel ride in the desert was brilliant and we got some lovely chai and met the camel tour guides family in his home before travelling back with Chhotu to Jodhpur. Would 100% recommend.
