Hier word je een insider over de geschiedenis van deze eenvoudige volksschoen die uitgroeide tot een grote modetrend. Samen met meester-ambachtslieden maak je je eigen paar espadrilles. Uit verschillende combinaties kies je de maat van de basis, de stikstijl en de kleur en het type veters, je leert de verschillende manieren om ze te strikken! Aan het eind voel je je een echte ambachtsman. Je krijgt een draagbare herinnering aan Sevilla die nauwelijks beschikbaar is voor bezoekers en een heel gaaf verhaal om te vertellen.

Eerst ontmoeten we elkaar in de inkomhal waar we wat drinken terwijl je leert over de bescheiden oorsprong van deze show die vandaag de dag wordt beschouwd als een luxeartikel in de modewereld.
Daarna leren we over de verschillende traditionele materialen en kiezen we de verschillende kleuren, maten en stijlen.
Als we klaar zijn, gaan we aan de Workshop-tafels zitten en naaien we onze eigen traditionele espadrilles, en leren we vervolgens de verschillende manieren om ze te rijgen.
Om onze mooie ervaring af te ronden, openen we een fles champagne of cava, dansen we, maken we foto's met onze nieuwe schoenen en hebben we plezier! Na dit alles zal elke gast vertrekken met zijn eigen creatie en met een heel gaaf verhaal om aan vrienden te vertellen, iets dat nauwelijks beschikbaar is voor de bezoekers, zelfs niet voor de lokale bevolking. Een draagbare herinnering aan Spanje.

We had an amazing experience at Cerámica 1920. Beatriz is a very helpful and attentive teacher for any class or experience you are looking for. She also knows many different languages and is very kind. You can choose whichever design you want to create, and you can even make your own. I ended up making a very cool tile!
I had such a wonderful time making my espadrilles. Fer, who led the workshop, was brilliant and taught me all about the origin of the shoes. Everyone went out of their way to make my time there special. There was so much laughter, music, and fun that it was contagious. Absolutely 10/10 recommend!!
Ale, Fernando and Kiana greeted me with so much sincere warmth and kept me smiling the entire time I was there. I can’t speak more highly of them and the experience of making my own pair of espadrilles exceeded my expectations. I had the best time. I was treated like it was my birthday. Ale taught me about the history of espadrilles and also how to sew the design my pair. She was the best teacher full of encouragement and so helpful. I highly recommend that anyone does this as I came home with a beautiful pair of shoes and more importantly a cherished memory of hanging out with Ale, Fernando and Kiana! I can’t thank them enough. They made my trip a million times better!
What a brilliant way to soak in Seville’s culture in a relaxing and fun way! I was so lucky to be able to do this workshop with Ale the store manager. She was so patient and fun to chat to. I had the best time, it was a birthday workshop gift to me 😉 i wished I could buy more espadrilles but had only a backpack for the plane back. I left there with the cutest selfmade espadrilles!

We had an excellent time. Ale was a great teacher and helped us to customise our espadrilles as well as giving us the historical background to these iconic shoes. It was great to see all the products in the shop afterwards and watch the experts customise shoes for clients. It was my friend’s birthday so Ale and her helpers made the event extra special.

Alejandra, our host welcomed my sister, an English-speaking tourist and myself with her joie de vivre and good humor! She began by telling us about the origin of espadrilles, whose real name is “espardeñas”, as well as the different styles of espadrilles. For the workshop, we made the “Pamplona” style, according to Alejandra it was not the easiest, but the most adaptable for beginners that we are. And I confirm, it was not obvious! There is a certain technique to master, a bit like the hook, but as soon as we have picked up the trick, it goes by itself. In 2 hours, we had finished our pairs of shoes, to the applause of all the shop! A good festive Mood and after the effort, comfort: we were treated to a small glass of cava offered. It was a great experience! I highly recommend to everyone visiting Seville to do this workshop. You will learn more about Spanish culture and you will leave with a very nice souvenir: a pair of sneakers made by you.
