Uw reis begint met een rit vanuit Krakau, vanuit uw hotel of een door u gekozen ontmoetingsplek. Het duurt ongeveer 1 uur en 30 minuten om Auschwitz te bereiken. Wanneer u in Oswiecim aankomt, neem dan een korte pauze voor een kopje koffie of om buiten rond te kijken. Vervolgens zal een vriendelijke lokale gids, onder licentie van het Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, u ontmoeten en uw rondleiding leiden.
Wanneer u op uw bestemming aankomt, wordt u opgewacht door uw professionele Gids en komt u het terrein van Auschwitz I binnen, wandelend door de poort naar het kamp dat het opschrift Arbeit Macht Frei (Werk stelt u vrij) draagt. Het Auschwitz-Birkenau complex werd in 1940 opgericht in plaats van oude Poolse legerkazernes. Oorspronkelijk om Poolse krijgsgevangenen politieke gevangenen te houden, en werkte tot de bevrijding door oprukkende Sovjets in 1945. Tijdens de operatie werden meer dan 1,5 miljoen Joodse, Poolse, Italiaanse en Franse gevangenen hierheen gebracht, waarvan 1,1 miljoen werd uitgeroeid als onderdeel van de grootste genocide in de menselijke geschiedenis. Overlevenden doodsbang achterlaten. Het Auschwitz-complex bestaat uit originele gebouwen en je kunt de originele wegen, hekken, wachttorens en spoorweghellingen en dodenmuur zien. Bezoek enkele van de barakken op het Auschwitz I complex, waar nu een collectie originele tentoonstellingen en documenten te vinden is, evenals voorwerpen die bij aankomst in het kamp van gevangenen zijn gestolen.
Het tweede deel van de tour - Birkenau (Auschwitz II) - het grootste kamp uit meer dan 40 kampen en subkampen uit Auschwitz complex. Oorspronkelijk gepland als een kamp voor Sovjet krijgsgevangenen, werd het uiteindelijk een concentratiekamp voor gevangenen van verschillende nationaliteiten en een centrum van de uitroeiing van Joden. De bouw begon in oktober 1941 door toedoen van slavenarbeiders, in een plaats van ontheemd en grotendeels gesloopt dorp Brzezinka en drie kilometer van Auschwitz I. Het was ontworpen om 125 000 gevangenen tegelijk te houden. Die vanaf het begin voorbestemd was om te sterven van kou, honger, ziektes en uitputting. Gevangenen werden behandeld als overbodige en gemakkelijk vervangbare arbeidskrachten. Je zult onvoorstelbare levensomstandigheden zien, gevangenen moeten zich aanpassen. U kunt lopen naar bewaard gebleven kamp barakken. U zult railhelling zien, toen de beruchte Dr Mengele toezicht hield op het selectieproces van nieuwkomers, toen split second besliste van je leven of dood in gaskamers. Die waren slechts 200 meter afstand.
Na de rondleiding haasten we je niet. Je hebt minimaal 20 minuten de tijd om te stoppen bij een boekwinkel of supermarkt, of om gewoon een pauze te nemen. Vervolgens brengen we u, na nog eens 1 uur en 15 minuten onderweg, terug naar een vaste plaats in Krakau.

- PAUZES ⌛️: Pauzes tijdens de tour duren niet langer dan 10 minuten. We moedigen u aan om comfortabel schoeisel te dragen, aangezien er tijdens de tour veel gewandeld zal worden.
- VERTREKTIJD️: De starttijd van de tour kan veranderen vanwege het beperkte aantal gidsen dat beschikbaar is in het Auschwitz Museum. Grateful for the experience provided by Discover Cracow. John and Ana were fantastic tour guides. The driver drove us safely to and from the destination. The only thing is, at least one of the breaks could be changed to 20 minutes to give us a chance to eat properly and do anything else. On that note, I recommend that people pack some food for afternoon tours, as they last approximately 8 hours in total including the journey. It was a very insightful experience, one could only hope that every individual who learned about this ghastly part of our history will ensure that this will never be repeated nor replicated in any way shape or form. I am deeply sorry for all the people who suffered brutally in the most inhumane way possible. Ana clearly is a very knowledgeable and experienced tour guide. I would highly recommend this tour to people with the stamina to walk around for hours, able to do stairs, have very good trainers, and are ready to experience a trip that you will never regret having.

Ghastly to see the horror of what went on. Excellent guide. Very informative. There's a lot of walking. It was good to go on a shorter tour. Bus takes an hour and a half to get there.
I was disappointed with our visit to Auschwitz. We specifically booked a Czech-language guided tour so that our entire family could stay together with one guide. Some members of our family speak only Czech, while others are native English speakers who also understand Czech. Unfortunately, our guide was not a native Czech speaker. Her Czech was difficult to understand, and the family members whose first language is English struggled to follow her explanations. The second issue was the audio equipment. The headset frequently cut out, the sound was distorted with constant crackling, and at times there was no audio at all. This made it even harder to understand the guide. I also don't understand why Auschwitz doesn't offer a fully digital audio guide as an alternative to live guided tours. Visitors could simply choose their preferred language with a native speaker and explore the museum at their own pace, without being rushed or limited by the quality of the guide's language skills. Another major disappointment was that we were not shown many of the buildings and exhibitions that the museum has to offer. There was so much we missed because the tour followed only a limited route. The entire visit felt rushed, leaving little time to reflect on such an important and emotional place. I believe the experience would be much better if visitors could choose a self-guided tour using high-quality audio commentary, allowing everyone to explore the site at their own pace while still receiving accurate and meaningful historical information.
This guide made me feel that she did not know enough about the history of the camp, and in the first camp, she spoke very briefly and briefly.
