Sightseeing in Athene begint met de heuvel van Akropolis die uw dag zal maken. Op de historische heuvel krijgt u de gelegenheid om het Odeon van Herodes Atticus, de tempel van Athena Nike, de monumentale poort (Propylaea), het Erechtheum en natuurlijk het beroemde Parthenon te zien, de belangrijkste tempel gewijd aan de maagdelijke godin Athena .
De Propylaea is de monumentale toegang tot het heilige gebied gewijd aan Athene, de beschermgodin van de stad. Gebouwd door de architect Mnesicles met Pentelisch marmer, hun ontwerp was avant-garde. Ten zuidwesten van de Propylaea, op een wal die de hoofdingang van de Akropolis beschermt, ligt de Ionische tempel van Apteros Nike.
Parthenon, de belangrijkste tempel gewijd aan de maagdelijke godin Athene. Het eeuwige symbool van de Atheense democratie en de westerse beschaving.

Het theater van Dionysus Elefthereus is een groot theater in Athene, beschouwd als het eerste theater ter wereld, gebouwd aan de voet van de Atheense Akropolis.
Het Odeon van Herodes Atticus is een stenen Romeinse theaterstructuur op de zuidwestelijke helling van de Akropolis van Athene, Griekenland. Het gebouw werd voltooid in 161 na Christus en vervolgens gerenoveerd in 1950.
Na de Akropolis gaan we naar de Tempel van Zeus, de grootste tempel in de oudheid, gewijd aan de Koning van de Goden, via de Boog van Hadrianus.
We bezoeken het Panathenaic-stadion, waar de eerste moderne Olympische Spelen werden gehouden in 1896.
Vervolgens gaan we naar het historische centrum van de stad en rijden we de hoogste heuvel van Athene op, de Lycabettus-heuvel, waar je het beste panoramische uitzicht over de stad hebt, van de heuvel van de Akropolis tot de Egeïsche Zee.
We zullen de wisseling van de wacht (Euzones) zien voor het oude paleis, dat tegenwoordig Parlementshuis is, boven het centrale plein van Athene.
Syntagma-plein is het centrale plein van Athene. Het plein is vernoemd naar de grondwet die Otto, de eerste koning van Griekenland, moest verlenen na een populaire en militaire opstand op 3 september 1843.
Het Griekse parlement, in het Grieks bekend als Voulí ton Ellínon, is het parlement van Griekenland, gelegen in het oude koninklijk paleis, met uitzicht op het Syntagma-plein in Athene. Het Parlement is de hoogste democratische instelling die de burgers vertegenwoordigt via een gekozen orgaan van parlementsleden
Het Academiegebouw vormt een van de drie delen in een "architecturale trilogie". Het werd opgericht met het grondwettelijk besluit van 18 maart 1926, als een Academie van Wetenschappen, Geesteswetenschappen en Schone Kunsten.
De Nationale Bibliotheek van Griekenland werd gebouwd aan het einde van de negentiende eeuw, als de laatste van de Architectural of Athens, een groep van drie neoklassieke gebouwen die ook de Academie en de Universiteit omvat. Het gebouw is ontworpen door Theophil Hansen.

Onderweg passeer je kustdorpen en het eiland Salamis (set van de historische zeeslag tussen de Atheners en Perzen). Onze eerste pauze op het Kanaal van Korinthe. Uiteindelijk geopend in 1892, scheidde het schiereiland Peloponnesos van de rest van Griekenland terwijl het de Saronische Golf met de Korinthische Zee verbond. Je hebt tijd om je benen te strekken, over een voetgangersbrug te lopen en het kanaal dichterbij te bewonderen (als je een game bent) op sommige dagen is bungeejumpen een optie.
Het oude Korinthe, gelegen aan de voet van de heuvel, omvat de Romeinse Agora van Korinthe, de tempel van God Apollo en een klein museum. Afgezien van het archeologische en historische belang is de site ook een van de meest populaire religieuze bestemmingen in Griekenland. Op deze verbazingwekkende plaats predikte de apostel Paulus het christendom, werd hij door het tribunaal in de Agora beoordeeld en stichtte hij de best georganiseerde christelijke kerk van die periode.
De tempel van Apollo in Korinthe is een van de vroegste Dorische tempels op de Peloponnesos en op het Griekse vasteland. De archaïsche tempel, gebouwd rond 560 v.G.T., van lokale monolithische kalksteen op de top van een imposante, rotsachtige heuvel ten noorden van Acrocorinth, was een embleem voor de Griekse stad Korinthe en weerspiegelde haar groei en welvaart.
We bezoeken het kasteel van Acrocorinth, het oudste en grootste kasteel in Zuid-Griekenland, voor een aantal fantastische foto's.
We rijden terug naar Athene.

A great day spent with a fantastic guide! Theodore (our guide) was knowledgeable and planned the perfect private tour for my mother and me. After picking us up at our hotel in a very clean and comfortable car we drove to Corinth. All along the way (about an hour), Theodore pointed out things of interest and answered all our questions. After visiting Corinth and the museum on our own he drove us to the top for beautiful photos. He then took us to a wonderful restaurant (Marinos)and joined us for a delicious lunch of traditional Greek foods. After a leisurely lunch with a wonderful breeze we returned to the car and made our way back to our hotel. The 6+ hour tour went by so quickly. We travel quite a bit and Theodore is one of the best guides we ever spent time with. Highly recommend!!!

My family and I had an amazing day! Our wonderful guide Theodore was so gracious and knowledgeable. We toured Athens and decided to take a trip to Corinth. Theodore was more than willing to help us and drove us to beautiful country and sea side sites. He was always punctual and gave us plenty of time to tour areas like the Acropolis and museums. He even stopped for some souvenir purchases. My family and I made beautiful memories exploring Athens and Theodore was a huge part of making it all happen!

What a great experience, thanks to Babis for creating a memorable day. The early slowpoke drive to Corinth was due to unexpected rush hour traffic, but Babis made the most of our time once we reached the archeological ruins. It was amazing to see the museum and several sites that were still distinguishable. Onward to Athens, we were given precise instructions about where to meet back after Acropolis stop. The inclines and rocky surfaces were perfectly managed by us four golden agers, and once on top, the amazing ruins did not disappoint. Babis suggested a lunch stopping point, but we indicated that we'd wait until returning to the ship. Babis strategically used the ample remaining time to drive past many wonderful landmarks including the Zeus Temple, the Presidential Palace, The Panathenaic Stadium, Athens City Hall, Hellenic Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (with changing of the guard), The National Library and other significant sites. It was a win-win day for all of us and the October cooler weather was a bonus, too.
