Vertrek vanaf en rijd langs de kustlijn tot we het Corinth-kanaal bereiken waar we een korte stop maken. Het Corinth-kanaal verbindt de Golf van Corinth met de Saronische Golf in de Egeïsche Zee. Het snijdt door de smalle landengte van Korinthe en scheidt de Peloponnesos van het Griekse vasteland, waardoor het schiereiland een eiland wordt. Het wordt beschouwd als een van de grote technische prestaties van Griekenland. Het kanaal werd op zeeniveau door de landengte gegraven en heeft geen sluizen. Het is 6,4 kilometer lang en slechts 21,4 meter breed aan de basis. Het kanaal werd gebouwd van 1880 tot 1893, maar het is iets waar reders en kapiteins al ongeveer 2000 jaar van droomden voordat het werkelijkheid werd.
Het oude Korinthe was een van de belangrijkste steden van het oude Griekenland. Het was deze megalopolis waar de apostel Paulus arriveerde, werkte en een welvarende kerk vestigde, en later schreef hij twee van zijn brieven, die nu deel uitmaken van het Nieuwe Testament. We zullen de ruïnes van de oude stad bezoeken waar St. Paul werkte Je zult ook de tempel van Apollo bewonderen, een van de oudste tempels in Griekenland die dateert uit de 6e eeuw voor Christus.
Deze kustexcursie neemt je mee naar alle must-see bezienswaardigheden van Athene. Als je Athene voor het eerst bezoekt, biedt deze tour een uitstekende kennismaking met een van de grootste steden van de antieke wereld. De tempel van Olympian Zeus, ook bekend als het Olympieion of de kolommen van de Olympian Zeus, is een voormalige kolossale tempel in het centrum van de hoofdstad Athene, Griekenland. Het was opgedragen aan "Olympian" Zeus, een naam afkomstig van zijn positie als hoofd van de Olympische goden. De bouw begon in de 6e eeuw voor Christus tijdens de heerschappij van de Atheense tirannen, die de bouw van de grootste tempel in de oude wereld voor ogen hadden, maar deze werd niet voltooid tot het bewind van de Romeinse keizer Hadrianus in de 2e eeuw na Christus, ongeveer 638 jaar na de project was begonnen. Tijdens de Romeinse periode stond de tempel, die 104 kolossale zuilen omvatte, bekend als de grootste tempel in Griekenland en huisde een van de grootste cultusbeelden in de antieke wereld.
Het Panathenaic-stadion of Kallimarmaro is een multifunctioneel stadion in Athene, Griekenland. Een van de belangrijkste historische bezienswaardigheden van Athene, het is het enige stadion ter wereld dat volledig uit marmer is gebouwd. Een stadion werd gebouwd op de plaats van een eenvoudige renbaan door de Atheense staatsman Lykourgos (Lycurgus) c. 330 v.Chr., Voornamelijk voor de Panatheense Spelen. Het stadion werd opgegraven in 1869 en organiseerde de Zappas Olympische Spelen in 1870 en 1875. Na te zijn gerenoveerd, organiseerde het de openings- en slotceremonies van de eerste moderne Olympische Spelen in 1896. Lycabettus heuvel ook bekend als Lycabettos, Lykabettos of Lykavittos is een kalkstenen heuvel in het krijt in Athene, Griekenland op 300 meter (908 voet) boven zeeniveau. Pijnbomen bedekken de basis, en aan de twee toppen bevinden zich de 19e-eeuwse kapel van St. George, een theater en een restaurant.
De boog van Hadrianus, in het Grieks het meest bekend als de poort van Hadrianus, is een monumentale poort die in sommige opzichten lijkt op een Romeinse triomfboog. Er is voorgesteld dat de boog werd gebouwd om de adventus (aankomst) van de Romeinse keizer Hadrianus te vieren en om hem te eren voor zijn vele voordelen voor de stad. Er waren twee inscripties op de boog, die in tegenovergestelde richtingen stonden en zowel Theseus als Hadrianus als stichters van Athene noemden.

I have know and used Dennis and his company Athens Limo Tours for 20 years and hands down the best limo and transfer company in Athens, Greece. Full fleet of limos, vans and mini buses. Competitive transfers from the airport to anywhere around Athens. Did did a city site tour which was great and day trip to Napfalo and Porta Cheli. It’s my first time going to Athens and a dozen family and friends are with us. I had an extensive wish list of everything I wanted us see and wasn’t obvious if we could actually accomplish it. I absolutely credit the driver and the tour guide with the success of seeing multiple sites. What I hadn’t anticipated in planning, is that when the driver drops you off at a site, he can’t park anywhere and wait for you. While you are at any site, he has to drive around. So the tour guide played an essential role of communicating with the driver when and where to pick us up. We start at the Acropolis (do buy tickets in advance). We took a drive to Kaisariani Monastery and caught site of Hadrian’s Arch, Zappeion Garden and the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) on the way. I have to say, it was great to go from the Acropolis which is a mess of tourists to the Monastery, which was empty. We caught a site of the enormous magnitude of the size of Athens along the way as well as seeing a little of the countryside. On the drive back, we drove up to Lycabetus Hill. The guide had a great recommendation for lunch. The driver drove past some incredible contemporary murals on the sides of buildings. I would not have known how to even research that in advance. I only wish I had the opportunity to photograph them. We drove by the Tower of Winds and Hadrian’s Library. The tour guide was also a critical aspect of navigating through the sites. We were dropped off at Monastiraki Square, she navigated us through the Roman Forum of Athens, the Gate of Athena Archegetis, the Stoa of Attalos, and then to the Temple of Hephaestus. If I had to figure that out all of my own, it would have taken so much time and stress, it may not have happened. Also, at Monastiraki Square, my seventy-something mother was exhausted and decided to stay on the limo. When we rejoined them, my mother said “I had the best time!” Apparently, they had gone for ice cream and shopping, and negotiating with an under cover cop. This experience couldn’t have been better. We were happy to tip both the driver and guide 50 euros. Thank you Athens Limo for such an amazing experience!

A little nerves is always involved when travelling to a country you have never visit before. My girlfriend and I was taking a NCL Cruise and decided to spend 2 days in Athens before the cruise. We like to have everything pre-organized before we travel. Athens Limo was recommended to me by another company I had used in Italy last year. From the first email I sent inquiring about the service, my mind was set at ease with the timely response from Dionisis. Communication was very fast and clear. I quickly realized I was dealing with a professional team. Not knowing all there is to do despite hours of research, I was provided with a excursion package that fits exactly what I was looking for. I will admit I was nervous walking through the airport, but once we saw the Dionisis holding up the sign with my name it was all smiles...Its vacation time! Needless to say the service was excellent and way beyond my expectation. We were picked up from the airport, taken to our hotel where we dropped our luggage before we were taken to a dinner in the sky experience. The next morning we got picked up where we did all the more meaningful excursions. The Mercedes car was very clean and safe. My girlfriend is a germaphobia so when I say it was clean it was up to her standard. I would use them again if I ever visit Athens. Great service!
