De Nationale Bibliotheek van Griekenland is gelegen nabij het centrum van de stad Athene. Het werd ontworpen door de Deense architect Theophil Freiherr von Hansen, als onderdeel van zijn beroemde trilogie van neoklassieke gebouwen, waaronder de Academie van Athene en het oorspronkelijke gebouw van de Universiteit van Athene. Het werd opgericht door Ioannis Kapodistrias.
De Academie van Athene is de nationale academie van Griekenland en de hoogste onderzoeksinstelling in het land. Het werd opgericht in 1926 en staat onder toezicht van het ministerie van Onderwijs. Het hoofdgebouw van de Academie is een van de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Athene.
De Universiteit van Athene werd op 3 mei 1837 gesticht door koning Otto van Griekenland en werd naar hem genoemd de Othonian University. Het was de eerste universiteit in de bevrijde Griekse staat en ook in de omgeving van Zuidoost-Europa.
De berg Lycabettus, ook wel bekend als Lycabettos, is een kalksteenheuvel uit het Krijt in de Griekse hoofdstad Athene. Met een hoogte van 277 meter (908 voet) boven de zeespiegel is de top het hoogste punt in het centrum van Athene en bedekken pijnbomen de basis. De naam verwijst ook naar de woonwijk direct onder het oosten van de heuvel. De heuvel is een toeristische bestemming en kan worden beklommen met de Lycabettus-kabelbaan, een kabelbaan die de heuvel beklimt vanaf een lager eindpunt bij Kolonaki (het treinstation bevindt zich aan de Aristippou-straat). Op de twee toppen bevinden zich de 19e-eeuwse kapel van St. George, een theater en een restaurant. Op de Lycabettus-heuvel heb je een adembenemend panoramisch uitzicht over de stad.
We zullen onze tour voortzetten in het Panathenaic Stadion, waar de moderne Olympische Spelen in 1896 begonnen. Ook wel "Kallimarmaro" stadion genoemd, is een van de hoogtepunten van Athene waar de klassieke Marathon eindigt en het enige stadion ter wereld dat volledig van marmer is gebouwd.
Het Akropolismuseum is opgericht om alle belangrijke vondsten van de Heilige Rots en zijn uitlopers tentoon te stellen. Als je het museum binnenkomt, kijk je door de plexiglas vloer om de ruïnes te zien van een oude Atheense wijk, die kunstig in het museumontwerp is verwerkt.

Very comprehensive, amazing and educational tour. I've always wanted to see the Acropolis, and I knew we needed a guide to get the most of the experience. This tour was amazing and included a private guide for the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum. I purchased the tickets for both online thru the official websites before I left for our vacation. On the day of our tour, George picked us up and took us to our guide Anda who was waiting at the bottom of the Acropolis. Anda was wonderful and very friendly. She was a wealth of knowledge. After our tour with Anda, she took us back to George for a driving tour of the city. George was also wonderful and a great driver when driving can get pretty crazy in the city. We saw everything listed on the tour. My whole family was very happy with the tour and the service we were provided.

Had a wonderful time with Giorgos on our tour. It was an easy pickup from the port to the Acropolis and the museum. It was a drop off at both places and no commentary. Afterwards, we had a tour of Athens city and returned to the ship. It was memorable!Private tour

Our tour was incredible. It honestly felt very in depth, so while we did the highlights tour our guide Anda made it feel like much more. She was very knowledgeable, kind, and engaging to everyone in our group. We are a family of 6 with kids ranging from 9 to 18 and she was able to interact with everyone on all levels in a way that captivated all. Our driver Jason was also super kind and accommodating. Through and through our experience was awesome. We walked away from Athens feeling like we had learned so much more than what we could have done on our own. Not because we wouldn’t have read the signs or descriptions of things but because it was the personal touch of why things were important and how they all fit into the puzzle that we call history.

We decided to kill two birds with one stone and have Crispy Locals arrange for our airport pickup and have the driver give us a highlights tour along the way. It was a perfect way to see the city, get our bearings and kill time until we could check in to our hotel. Mr George, our guide, was knowledgeable and entertaining. We enjoyed our time with him and highly recommended the tour company and our guide.

This experience was so incredible. Here on our honeymoon and so impressed with the service. Giorgos is an amazing and thoughtful guide around the city. We felt so special and would recommend every time! He suggested many wonderful places to visit and eat, and took us to a beautiful restaurant, Prasini Tenta. He even got us flowers and special sweets. We felt very safe and fortunate to have such a knowledgeable, considerate guide as he drove us around the city. We really could relax and enjoy ourselves. Anda showed us the Acropolis of Athens and her passion and love for the sites is infectious! It was like having a conversation with your best friend! Her energy is so lovely. We can’t recommend enough and are beyond happy! We will remember this day and these experiences with these amazing people in this awesome city forever!

My friends, my husband, and I had the pleasure of a private, skip the line, tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum on September 20, 2023. Six people. It was booked through Crispy Local. They provided transportation to and from our hotel. Our driver, George, was friendly, prompt, and very interesting. Our tour guide was Anda. She was amazing at negotiating the crowd to give us the best views of the Acropolis and surroundings. Her knowledge of Athens history and the construction of the Acropolis is encyclopedic! She shared large colorful pictures of how the Acropolis looked when it was completed which helped us understand it’s true magnificence. Not only that, both George and Anda were kind and funny—the kind of people you’d like to hang out and be friends with. I highly recommend this tour! It was the highlight of our stay in Athens.
