De kathedraal van Assisi, gewijd aan San Rufino (Rufinus van Assisi) is een belangrijke kerk in Assisi.
De basiliek van St. Clara van Assisi, gerealiseerd met de typische roze steen gewonnen uit de steengroeve van de berg Subasio, bevat kostbare fresco's die dateren uit de periode van de XIIe tot de XIVe eeuw. In de kapel aan de rechterkant, langs het unieke schip van St. Clare van Assisi, eindigend in transept en veelhoekige apsis, kunt u het kruisbeeld bewonderen dat, volgens traditie, St. Francesco zou hebben uitgenodigd in de kerk van St. Damiano in om "de kerk te resetten"
Chiesa Nuova. De Chiesa Nuova is een kerk in Assisi, Italië, gebouwd in 1615 op de plaats van de vermoedelijke geboorteplaats van St. Franciscus, het huis van Pietro di Bernardone. Het heette toen Chiesa Nuova omdat het de laatste kerk was die in die tijd in Assisi werd gebouwd.
De tempel van Minerva is een oud Romeins gebouw in Assisi, Umbrië, Midden-Italië. Het herbergt momenteel een kerk, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, gebouwd in 1539 en gerenoveerd in barokstijl in de 17e eeuw.
Op het plein ziet u een van de best bewaarde Romeinse tempels in Italië - de tempel van Minerva - die wordt omringd door imposante middeleeuwse overheidsgebouwen.
Erkend als UNESCO-werelderfgoed, werd de basiliek van Sint Franciscus gebouwd onder leiding van frater Elias, vicaris-generaal en architect van de orde, beginnend in 1228, slechts twee jaar na de dood van de heilige, als een plek ontworpen om zijn stoffelijk overschot.
Als de plechtige en donkere lagere basiliek boete en stilte uitnodigt, zweeft de hogere kerk in de lucht, luchtig en helder. In een gotische stijl met Franse invloeden, heeft het schip vier baaien, kruisgewelf en een veelhoekige dwarsschip en apsis.

- Vanwege de tentoonstelling van de overblijfselen van Sint Franciscus worden rondleidingen door de basiliek opgeschort van 15 februari 2026 tot 6 april 2026. De Gids geeft uitleg van buitenaf, waarna bezoekers zelfstandig naar binnen kunnen.

Don't go to Assisi without doing this tour, it’s a must! So much history and valuable information that’s not possible to know without a local guide. Our guide was amazing.

We had a wonderful experience on the Assisi tour. The town is absolutely beautiful, and the tour was very well organized. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing meaningful historical and cultural insights that truly brought Assisi to life. We especially appreciated walking from the upper part of Assisi down to the lower town, which made the experience much easier and more enjoyable as we were traveling with a senior. Highly recommend!
