Onze eerste stop is Assin Manso Slave Ancestral River Site waar de tot slaaf gemaakte Voorouders hun laatste bad hadden voordat ze naar Cape Coast en Elmina kastelen werden verplaatst voor de laatste zending. Na Assin Manso verhuizen we naar Cape Coast Castle voor de belangrijkste geschiedenis over de slavenhandel tijdens Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Erra en zien we de DEUR VAN GEEN TERUGKEER. Na het kasteel kunnen we genieten van de wandeling naar Kakum National Park terwijl we Canopy Walk in het park maken. Maak je klaar voor een spannende maar fysiek veeleisende (15 - 20 minuten) wandeling in een dicht regenwoud. We gaan een heuvel beklimmen dus draag sportieve schoenen, sneakers en gezichtshanddoek voor de boswandeling. NB : Er zijn 3 mogelijkheden om uit te kiezen. Deelnemers maken een wandeling door het regenwoud en lopen over de Canopy Walk Way.
Cape Coast Castle diende als een van de slavenkastelen die aan de kust van Ghana werden gebouwd. Het diende ook als het administratief centrum voor de Britse overheersing in West-Afrika. Deelnemers bezoeken het museum en kerkers waar slaven werden vastgehouden in afwachting van verzending naar de Nieuwe Wereld.
we bezoeken de Assin Manso-slavenrivier die diende als de plaats waar slaven hun laatste bad op Afrikaanse bodem hadden voordat ze naar de slavenkastelen werden gemarcheerd. Ze werden gevoerd en schoongemaakt zodat ze er aantrekkelijk en gezond uitzagen om hogere prijzen te garanderen. hete brandijzers werden gebruikt om herkenningstekens op de huid van gevangenen te branden. De sporen waren een litteken op de schouder, borst of bovenarm om eigendom te tonen. Andere keren werd branding gebruikt om aan te tonen dat de juiste rechten waren betaald. het is nu een heilige plaats van herinnering. het is de thuisbasis voor de eerste 2 diaspora's (Lady Crystal uit Jamaica en Samuel Carson uit New York) waarvan de overblijfselen naar Ghana werden gebracht via de "deur van terugkeer" en herbegraven. Ook zijn er overblijfselen van afstammelingen van Afrikaanse slaven uit Barbados begraven op de site om emancipatie en herverbinding te symboliseren.

Foster was the absolute best. He communicated prior to pick. He was on time. He also explained about construction and the delay it would cause. For the past five years I’ve been studying my ancestry and I believe this trip is a necessity for everyone in the African diaspora. The long drive from my hotel to Slave River was so worth it for the wealth knowledge you receive from the tour guides. Jeff was a great driver and accommodating to my family needs. If you’re debating which castle to go to, Elmina is a must.

The history and significance of the Slave River and Castles were palpable and powerful. However the knowledge and flexibility of the guide along with the cleanliness of the transportation were less than desirable. Although this is not the accountabilty of the tour operator visitors should be alerted to the fact that because of road conditions the 95 mile drive can take 4 to 5 hours.
I am sorry you experienced that and we will take your review seriously in order to correct issues raised but our guide explained to you that portion of the road is under construction before the journey began so we are surprised you raised it that the guide didn't tell you about the nature of and the hours it will take but in all we accept it and we shall henceforth inform our cherish clients ahead of time and we shall make sure the vehicle is very cleaned to that standard you prefer before using it. What a memorable day on this tour with the excellent guide, Freedom! He was on time, so knowledgeable, and Kadelo Travels was very communicative. Being a solo female traveler on this tour, most importantly, I felt safe. This is a heavy tour but so important to see, and I’m so glad I did. I left Assin Manso and Cape Coast Castle deep in thought and contemplation. I chose the canopy walk as the third destination, but you could pick from either that or Elmina Castle. Freedom was so knowledge and shared the Ghanaian hospitality I’d heard so much about. Thank you guys for an amazing, eye-opening tour! I will use Kadelo Travels whenever I returned to Ghana.
