Aromatherapie kan een nog oudere vorm van behandeling zijn, die bijna 6.000 jaar teruggaat. De oude Egyptenaren, Chinezen, Indiërs, Romeinen en Grieken gebruikten aromatische oliën voor genezing, als parfums en in religieuze ceremonies. In de afgelopen eeuw hebben wetenschappers de helende eigenschappen van veel essentiële oliën aangetoond. In de Eerste Wereldoorlog gebruikten beoefenaars deze verbindingen om brandwonden, wonden, infecties en zelfs gangreen te behandelen. Naast fysieke genezing bieden etherische oliën veel persoonlijke en psychologische voordelen. Een romatherapie is een alternatieve vorm van holistische therapie die essentiële oliën gebruikt om je te helpen emotioneel en fysiek te verbeteren en in balans te brengen, terwijl je tegelijkertijd de tijd neemt om voor jezelf te zorgen, om mindful te zijn en je opnieuw te verbinden met jezelf, zelfs voor een moment. The massage itself was good but the experience around the massage was not. I had booked our massages in advance so when I walked in, I gave my name and they confirmed that I'd booked the aromatherapy massage (which is one of their cheaper offerings but still pricier than many of the other places in town). Then they sat us down and started pressuring us to upgrade or add something else. My husband and I were each given a menu of options but we decided to stick with what we booked. The receptionist was visibly agitated. After that, there were a few strange things with the massage that I probably wouldn't bother to mention if the receptionist hadn't been so pushy. Things like: the satin shorts they told me to change into were clearly made for a large man, not a woman. They were falling off and I had to hold them up as I made my way to the foot bath and then the table. Also, my husband and I both agree that we noticed no actual aromatherapy. If the oil they used was scented, we couldn't smell it. Overall, you'll have an enjoyable massage in nice facilities but just expect them to try for an upsell...
