There were 13-14 hikers on this tour. I recommend a 3 day not the two day. It was very hot going into the canyon even in July-August time period. I would do this in the dry season because of the mud you would encounter at other times of the year. I drank 3 liters of water walking into the canyon even never crossed the river there was two places to buy water from a woman and our hostel. We went to the next hostel the following day and had a great time in the pool topped off with great meals. If you are a slower hiker take the mules up the canyon but I would recommend some degree of horsemanship. It was not for the faint of heart as you are traveling up and over fairly steep rock sections. You just need to hold on and I recommend gloves. I took the hour and a half ride up because I didn’t want to be tail end Charlie. It is a typical 3 hour hike out of the canyon. Highly memorable and very scenic. We also stopped to see the condors and hit a great buffet on the way back.
