Matera is een van de oudste steden ter wereld waarvan het grondgebied het bewijs bevat van menselijke nederzettingen vanaf het paleolithicum en zonder onderbrekingen tot op de dag van vandaag. Het vertegenwoordigt een buitengewone pagina die door de mens is geschreven gedurende de millennia van deze zeer lange geschiedenis. Werelderfgoed sinds 1993 en Culturele Hoofdstad van Europa in 2019. Met de klassieke en typische Ape Calessino (tuk tuk), een Italiaanse mythe, zeer gewaardeerd door gezinnen, vooral met kinderen in een rolstoel, zullen we de oude stad en de Sassi doorkruisen, omdat ze erg vermoeiend zijn te voet, vooral in de zomer, suizen door de straten en karakteristieke steegjes, kleine stops maken voor foto's en video's en kerken bezoeken op de pleinen en de karakteristieke Case Grotte (Case Museo).

It was a last minute booking the night before but everything was great! Its a good option to see more of Matera if you want to skip the stairs, good thing we booked it because started raining a lot nd it was impossible to walk, we ended the tour wet but we did make it to the church and to the house museum. Our guide was amazing, he even drop us off at our car so we wouldnt walk under the rain.

Eustachio was very kind and nice, a simple tour with stops, I would have appreciated many more explanations that would have made Matera even more evocative and heart-wrenching as it deserves. A simple red bus Sassi line could have been an affordable alternative. Rather disappointed having done a similar tour 20 years ago with a passionate guide.
Buonasera. Sono costretto a risponderle a questa recensione per alcune precisazioni. 1) Le comunico che il servizio dell' Ape Calessino, che è un Tour più che altro panoramico non esisteva 20 anni fa'.... 2) Sicuramente lei avrà fatto 20 anni fa' un giro con guida autorizzata, che dura tra le due alle tre ore... 3) Facendo quindi un giro con guida autorizzata è normale sia più approfondito e più dettagliato sulla nostra storia. 4) Il nostro servizio invece è più che altro panoramico ( senza guida autorizzata ), ma con qualche cenno storico, per ammirare e fotografare scorci unici tra i Sassi e il centro storico di Matera in modo rilassante e senza fare fatica a piedi ... soprattutto tra le tante scalinate dei Sassi con 35-40 gradi.... 5) Infine se per lei era un problema di costi... poteva usufruire , come dice , del "Bus Rosso" urbano, che trasporta la gente dai Sassi alla stazione con solo un euro e cinquanta a persona.... Grazie.

If mobility is an issue for you (as it is for us) then using the Tuk-tuk to get you around a very hilly Matera is such a relief. Not sure that the price for just around an hour was warranted. That said - we saw the main highlights of Matera in a morning. Job done. Would I recommend this to a friend? Depends on their mobility.

The tour through Matera with the Ape was very nice. Angelo, our driver, was very, very nice and showed us everything. We had booked the German tour, and with a speaker, we were given a little information about Matera. The information was somewhat sparse. This could be improved. Angelo, the best tour guide, made several stops with us so that we could take photos as well. We were able to visit a cave, the city of Matera in miniature view, and not to forget, a church as well. On hot days, this tour is highly recommended.
This is a very basic tour. The guide was very nice but you listen to a short recording at a few stops and 50 minutes later, you are done. It gave a very small taste of Matera. If time and budget allow go for a longer tour with an in person guide (not a recording)

Tutto questo è descritto chiaramente sulle nostre pagine, quindi la prossima volta, prima di richiedere un servizio, vi consiglio di leggere con attenzione di cosa si occupa e offre , in modo tale da poter decidere se richiederlo o no. Different languages in our case English the driver did not understand what we were saying. They use a pre recorded device for english
Buongiorno. Le comunico che se c'è un' audio guida pre-recorder in diverse lingue , è perché evidentemente il driver non parla in lingue , ma solo in italiano. Tutto questo è riportato chiaramente nelle informazioni del servizio che avete richiesto. Grazie.
This is by far the best way to see Matera. Our guide, even with limited English, was incredibly helpful and friendly and showed us everything we wanted to see and more. Plenty of time for photographs and getting out and seeing incredible views. This is a great thing for somebody with a mobility issues, and the central Meetup location was easily accessible by taxi.
