Tijdens deze tour heb je de mogelijkheid om enkele van de meest interessante locaties te bezoeken, zoals Devil's Bridge, het regenwoud en de schoonheid van het eiland te zien terwijl je door een aantal schilderachtige dorpjes rijdt, op weg naar Nelson's Dockyard National Park, de thuisbasis van de beroemde Engelse haven, en vernoemd naar Horatio Nelson die in de 18e eeuw in Antiqua diende. Deze tour is uniek omdat het een eerste hand kennis van het eiland geeft na een bezoek aan het Interpretatiecentrum (indien geopend) waar men de geschiedenis van Antigua en Barbuda kan zien en horen.

Rijd naar Shirley Heights en slenter door de oude militaire vestingwerken. U kunt adembenemende schilderachtige landschappen op 360 graden bekijken. Een spectaculair uitzicht over de Engelse haven en de haven van Falmouth begroet je ogen en op een heldere dag zijn de naburige eilanden Montserrat en Guadeloupe te zien.
De scheepswerf dankt zijn naam aan admiraal Horatio Nelson, een Britse marineofficier die van 1784 tot 1787 in deze scheepswerf van de Royal Navy woonde. De achttiende- en negentiende-eeuwse gebouwen van de scheepswerf zijn volledig gerestaureerd in hun oorspronkelijke luister en herbergen moderne voorzieningen zoals winkels , hotels en jachthavens. Nelson's Dockyard biedt vele locaties en activiteiten voor bezoekers om te verkennen en te genieten. Genesteld in het park kunt u bladeren door het Dockyard Museum, gevestigd in het voormalige Admiral's House. Het museum presenteert bezoekers tentoonstellingen over de geschiedenis van de scheepswerf en het huidige archeologische onderzoek op het eiland. Het Copper and Lumber Store Hotel biedt vijfsterrenaccommodaties en is een prachtige locatie voor speciale gelegenheden en bevindt zich ook in de Dockyard. Bezoek daar de cadeauwinkels en kunstgalerijen. Nelson's Dockyard National Park, dat ook Clarence House en Shirley Heights bevat, en het enige UNESCO-werelderfgoed van het land is.
Devil's Bridge is een echte brug gevormd door duizenden jaren oude rifvorming en erosie. De golven van de Atlantische Oceaan zijn constant tegen de kalkstenen rotsen gebotst, waardoor in de loop van de tijd een natuurlijke boog is ontstaan vol met geisers en uitblaasgaten. Golven blijven breken tegen deze zelfde kalksteenrotsen aan de kust, en het is een prachtig natuurverschijnsel.

Voor reizigers die op het eiland op vakantie gaan, haalt onze chauffeur ze op bij de lobby van het hotel. We halen op bij ALLE hotels. Let op, als er binnen 24 uur na de reisdatum wordt gebokst, begint de tour om 10.00 uur en niet om 9.00 uur De duur van de tour is 3 en een half uur; gasten hebben echter de mogelijkheid om een kortere tour aan te vragen.

As a solo female traveler, it is important to me to find ways to see different sites where I feel safe. This tour fit the bill. I was able to see various parts of the island and felt safe. In addition, there was just the right amount of time at each location. I didn’t feel rushed or that there was too much time waiting around. It was just right.

Blondell was awesome. She was very knowledgeable about the the island. She went above and beyond to make sure our experience was the best. She was able to make a quick stop at a pharmacy and found a store that had cut up pineapple 🍍, so we could try it. I would highly recommend the tour and Blondell.

What a fantastic excursion. Started out rocky because the instructions for meeting our Tour Guide were horrible. Spent about 45 minutes at the meeting location but no Pink Sign with our name. Ended up turning on my phone and we finally got connected. Viator needs to give better information regarding where to meet. That was the end of the negative. Met Michael in his Cadillac Escalade and off we went. He was a wealth of knowledge. We did circle the whole island and he had knowledge about every community. He was very accommodating with my hubby’s walker. Made sure we had a ramp, etc.

My husband and I took this tour a couple of weeks ago while on a cruise. Our driver, Benjamin, was outstanding. He took us all over Antigua, showing us so much of the island. My husband uses a wheelchair to walk distances, and Benjamin was so good about taking the chair in and out of the car. We went to Devil's Bridge and learned the history of the rock formation there. The walk down to see the bridge was really rough and rocky, but Benjamin patiently and carefully helped my husband get close enough to see the bridge. Then on Nelsons Dockyard where we saw amazing yachts and the historical naval yard. From there went to The Blockhouse Ruins and saw amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Our final stop was Shirley Heights with more amazing views. It was a great day, and Benjamin was very knowledgeable about the sites we saw. A great day all around! I would highly recommend this tour and especially Benjamin!

Driver answers to question was a simple yes or no. No narrative of the island. We had to ask all the question. Vehicle dirty

Broke car after 2 nd stop which was less then 50 % of the tour. Very old car and in bad condition. Driver was not able to solve the situation. No support from his office at all. Finally we organized a taxi back to our cruise ship by ourself. Still did not got reimbursed for the taxi fare back to the ship. Anyway a lost day in Antigua with very bad memories. Be careful if you wanna book a trip in Antigua. Your decision. Or let yourself guarantee that they use new cars. This was an axpansivw tour for 2 persons of more than 200 Euros
We sincerely apologize for the unfortunate experience you had during your tour with us which was totally beyond our control. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we deeply regret that the vehicle's condition and subsequent breakdown disrupted your day in Antigua. This is not the level of service we strive to provide. As mentioned before, we had refunded you the amount we would have been paid from the VIATOR site along with the US$40 taxi fare. Total refunded was US$211.60. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and hope you might consider giving us another opportunity in the future to provide a much better experience.
