Miljoenen mensen reizen naar Amsterdam om te zien waar de familie Frank zich schuilhield voor de nazi's. In deze rondleiding vertellen we over een deel van de route die Anne aflegde op haar reis naar de schuilplaats. We reizen terug in de tijd naar WOII Amsterdam, leren over Annes leven & het ‘geheime achterhuis’ en ervaren Annes emoties tijdens de donkere oorlogsdagen. De tour eindigt vlakbij het Anne Frank Huis waar je via een virtual reality recreatie (gemaakt door de Anne Frank Stichting) het Achterhuis binnenkomt. Als je de schuilplaats binnenkomt via de boekenkast, zul je zien dat het VR-huis, in tegenstelling tot het eigenlijke huis, nog steeds meubels heeft, wat een gevoel geeft van hoe het was om er te wonen in 1942 - 44. Er is geen drukte, je hebt het virtuele Anne Frank Huis voor jezelf om in je eigen tempo te verkennen. Dichter bij het echte werk dan je kunt komen, zonder een voet in het huis te zetten. Start van de tour op het Max Euwe Plein naast het standbeeld van de enige Nederlandse schaakgrootmeester
Een van de bekendste pleinen van Amsterdam in het hart van het oude stadscentrum.
We lopen ongeveer 20 minuten over de langste gracht van Amsterdam. We zien grachtenpanden, bruggen, talloze woonboten en veel mensen op de fiets.
We passeren het Johnny Jordaanplein. Het beroemde plein van de beroemdste volkszangers van Amsterdam.
De mooiste kerk van Amsterdam in het stadscentrum. De beroemde Westerkerk, een 17e eeuwse hervormde kerk gebouwd voor de rijken in de grachtengordel. Rembrandt ligt hier begraven.
Naast de Westerkerk staat een prachtig beeldje van Anne Frank als herinnering. We zullen hier een korte stop maken.
Bekijk het huis waar de Franks meer dan 2 jaar ondergedoken zaten en leer over de connecties met de buurt en hoe ze het gedurende twee jaar hebben overleefd.

Highly recommend - was a favorite part of our trip. Zara was our tour guide and she was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable and careful to share information in an historically accurate way - relaying uncertainty when it existed, rather than sensationalizing. Learned a lot about general pre-WWII history as well. Was great for a 9, 12 and 47 year old!
I missed out on visiting the Anne Frank museum as it was all sold out. Decided to try this and it was INFINITELY way better. It was two and a half hour walk with an AWESOME guide , Case. We walked the path Anne took, starting from the prison where she was held after capture, past major landmarks, crossing the actual office where they hid and ending with a virtual reality tour of the attic. This was an amazing experience as unlike the museum, we could each individually tour the attic with all its original furniture, posters on the wall etc as well as listen to excerpts from Anne's diary. So so so worth it!
This was a very informative and excellent tour! The VR experience was outstanding! I recommend this tour to all who wish to truly wish to see the great lengths that had to be taken to survive this horrible event.
There is a lot of walking but it helps one better understand what the Franks went through when they left their home.
I would have liked to do the Virtual Reality portion only because we were experiencing pain in our feet and legs at the time. The end location was only about 2-3 blocks from where we were staying so I asked if we could skip the walking portion and meet with everyone at the end location. They said "No that is not possible". I did forfeit the cost, which I expected, but I don't understand why they wouldn't let us attend the VR portion. The space was available since we paid for it. Not happy, but accepting.
Hi Linda, we are sorry that you were unable to participate in our highly rated walking tour. The tour is designed to provide context and background to the events leading up to the family going into the hiding place. The walking section of the tour is the main part. allowing you to retrace the route the family took on the way to the house. We do not offer the VR session as a standalone element. On occasions, we can accommodate late arrivals, as a goodwill gesture. However, as we explained over the phone, we do not know exactly when the tour group will arrive at the office where the VR segment takes place. On this occasion, there was no one at the office to meet you/let you in, meaning you would have potentially been waiting on the street up to 30-40 minutes until the group arrived. You stated that you didn't wish to do that, so unfortunately, it wasn't possible for you to join the group. The tour is very clearly listed as a walking tour, so we are a little surprised that someone who is unable to walk (as you stated on the phone) would book on a tour such as this.
The virtual experience takes you further into the history of Anne Frank's house with viewing the rooms WITH furniture instead of going through the house with no furniture. Would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to have have knowledge of Anne Frank & family's last walk in Amsterdam & view her place she & family stayed.

Interesting walk with our knowledgeable guide Ceese. Explained Jewish background of Amsterdam / Netherlands and why so many Jews were captured. Explained traumatic life for Jews under Nazis and why and how the Frank family went into hiding. VR if house interesting as shown furnished how it would have been. Took a little while to get used to VR headsets but very good.

Case was a great guide. He did a wonderful job explaining the history of the area and how the Netherlands became such a safe haven for the Jewish people until the WWII Nazi’s invasion. The information and following Anne Franks foot steps was quite unique especially adding on the virtual reality experience. Would highly suggest you check this out.
