De Bekaa Valley is Libanon's meest historisch dichtbevolkte dagtrip vanuit Beiroet — en de meeste mensen krassen er alleen maar op. Deze begeleide tour met kleine groepen doet het goed: een spookstad waar de meeste tourbussen recht langs rijden, de grootste Romeinse tempels die ooit gebouwd zijn met een Gids die daadwerkelijk uitlegt waar je naar kijkt, en 2 kilometer Romeinse wijngrotten onder het oudste wijnhuis van Libanon. Drie stops, drie compleet verschillende hoofdstukken van dezelfde vallei, één inclusief lunch. Anjar — de enige overgebleven Umayyadische vorstelijke stad in de Levant, gebouwd door kalief Walid I en verlaten binnen decennia. Baalbek — een UNESCO Werelderfgoed waar de Tempel van Bacchus groter is dan het Parthenon. Ksara — gesticht door jezuïeten in 1857, met Romeinse grotkelders die de middag direct terug verbinden met de ochtend. 8:30 AM — Ophalen van het hotel Je Gids ontmoet de groep in je hotel in Beiroet en gaat naar het oosten over de Damascus snelweg — over de Libanese bergen en omlaag de Bekaa Vallei in. Anjar is ongeveer een uur rijden.
Anjar — de Umayyad stad die niemand op hun lijst zet Gebouwd in het begin van de 8e eeuw door kalief Walid I — de heerser die ook de opdracht gaf voor de Umayyad-moskee in Damascus — en verlaten slechts decennia later, nooit meer bewoond. Kolonade straten, een paleis met meer dan 40 torens, een moskee, badhuizen — allemaal nog overeind. Het enige overgebleven voorbeeld van een complete Umayyadische vorstelijke stad in de hele Levant, en een van de meest onderschatte archeologische vindplaatsen in het Midden-Oosten. De meeste tourgroepen slaan het over. Je Gids zorgt ervoor dat je precies begrijpt waarom ze het verkeerd doen.
Steen van de Zwangere Vrouw — schaalcontrole voor de tempels Een enkel kalksteenblok, 21 meter lang, 1000 ton zwaar, 2000 jaar geleden uitgehakt en nooit verplaatst. Nog steeds in de groeve waar het werd verlaten. Je Gids legt uit waarom het hier is — en waarom je door ernaast te staan je gevoel voor wat er vijf minuten verderop in het tempelcomplex staat te wachten, opnieuw afstemt.
Baalbek Temple Complex — de Gids verdient hier zijn honorarium De tempel van Jupiter op Trilithon stenen met een gewicht van elk meer dan 800 ton – de grootste geklede stenen in de menselijke geschiedenis. De tempel van Bacchus, groter dan het Parthenon, bijna geheel intact, de best bewaarde Romeinse tempel op aarde. De Tempel van Venus voltooide een complex dat drie eeuwen duurde. Zonder Gids is Baalbek overweldigend. Met de juiste wordt het de meest memorabele site die je bezoekt in Libanon. Lunch in Zahle of Baalbek — inclusief Libanese mezze en gegrild vlees — hetzij in Baalbek of op de terrassen van het restaurant aan de rivier van Zahle, Libanon's meest gevierde voedselbestemming, afhankelijk van timing en groepsvoorkeur. Volledig inbegrepen.
Chateau Ksara — de Romeinse grotten onder het oudste wijnhuis van Libanon Gesticht door jezuïetenmonniken in 1857 boven 2 kilometer Romeinse grotkelders — dezelfde Romeinse beschaving die je de ochtend doorbracht met het verkennen van Baalbek, nu ondergronds en rijpende wijn. De grot tour komt eerst — oude tunnels op een natuurlijk constante temperatuur het hele jaar door — dan een proeverij van Ksara's Cabernet-Syrah blends, Blanc de Blancs, en Sunset Rosé. Uw Gids verbindt de stippen tussen Baalbek en Ksara op een manier die de middag als een voortzetting laat voelen in plaats van een hele andere stop.
Terugkeer naar Beiroet — ongeveer 6 : 00–7 : 00 PM Afzetten bij uw hotel in Beiroet. Een spookstad, 's werelds grootste Romeinse tempels en oude wijngrotten - de Bekaa goed gedaan.

Very nice tour, lots to see o good guides who could tell us about the different places we visited. Great Lebanese lunch. Remember to bring a slightly thicker sweater or jacket if you go wintertime.
Amazing tour of Anjar, Baalbek+ lunch and winery tour! The guide was super friendly, the food was amazing and the places breathtaking. Baalbek was a sight to behold. Definitely recommended if you like cultural landmarks (food is culture too 😉) even a tiny bit.

I took this small-group tour to Baalbek and Anjar with Lebanon Tours and Travels today, and it was such a great day. Everything went so smoothly from start to finish. The team was awesome to deal with before booking—they got back to me quickly and answered all my questions, which made me feel super comfortable. They picked us up from our Beirut hotel right on time, and the whole tour went just as planned. We started at Anjar and then headed to Baalbek. Our guide and driver, Albert, was the best. He’s such a nice guy—really friendly, patient, and knows so much about Lebanon’s history. He made the whole day so interesting with his stories. I loved learning about the Umayyad history in Anjar and the huge Roman temples in Baalbek—they were unreal to see in person. Albert never rushed us and was always happy to take pics for us. Lunch was incredible—a big Lebanese spread in the Bekaa Valley. I’m vegan, and they had so many local dishes I could eat, like creamy hummus, roasted eggplants, spinach pies, and spicy potatoes. It was honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The sites were amazing, and the whole day felt so special. If you’re in Lebanon, you’ve gotta do this tour with Albert and his team. I’ll never forget it!

The whole trip exceeded my expectations.. I was collected in time, very friendly guide, and the very informative. Both main visits with a professional archeologist. On top the lunch was excellent. Although hesitant about Ksara, it turned out to be a nice end of the visit to the Beeka valley.
The journey was excellent and the the support from guide Hassan was great! From the very beginning the tour was picked with information. We were lucky with the weather and guide Hassan transfered a super atmosphere!
