Many compliments to Hermo for all the attention and professionalism on this tour. I could not have asked for a better guide. The tour was well planned and executed. The snack was a pleasant surprise and could have not asked for a better day and guide to be with.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It was a pleasure guiding you and sharing this experience together. I’m really happy you enjoyed the day and the little surprises along the way. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Chile! — Hermo
Takes about an hour to get up to the Valle Nevado ski resort and then an hour back to Santiago. The picnic was in a very pretty location where we got to see some Andean condors. Just make sure you're in good shape as this tour involves a fair amount of hiking at altitude (~10,000 ft/3000 m). My guide, Leon, did an excellent job during this approximately 5 hour tour.
Hermo gave us a wonderful tour into the Andes. The mountains were covered with snow and the scenery was spectacular. The vastness of the mountains has a spiritual quality. Hermo found an isolated spot overlooking deep canyons and tall peaks and provided us with a delightful snack of wine and cheeses.
A scenic drive from Santiago to the Andes ski resort above town. This was a nice half day tour that includes beautiful views and a nice wine & cheese break. Hermo was a pleasant guide who drove expertly in a comfortable vehicle on the winding mountain road.
This is the best tour we took in Santiago! We saw 4 condors and the picnic was fantastic. The area is so quiet! We enjoyed it a kid!
Thank you so much! It was awesome having you on the tour — really glad you enjoyed it. Hermo
This is a great tour into the Andes and I thoroughly recommend it. Driving into the Andes you get to experience the changing landscape and vegetation. There are cactus that later get replaced by trees and then to the ski fields (in summer). Hermo our driver and guide provides information along the way but also allows you time to soak in the scenery and experience. At the top we were fortunate to sight some Condors. On the way back , the scenery changes with the light of the day. The colours of the Andes are beautiful. A stop for the apppetizer and the sounds of silence while we’re alone is something we appreciate and enjoyed. Again some more condors were flying around. It is rare that you get to do a tour and not be surrounded by many others. Much of the time we enjoyed the Andes by ourselves. A tour I recommend and the best thing we did during our time in Santiago.
The drive was spectacular and the views are amazing. Our guide Hermo was a fantastic driver and made our day special with a nice wine and cheese encounter on the cliffs of the valley. Amazing really. Even found a few Condors soaring above us.
It’s basically a car ride up to a ski lodge. Walked around for about 30 mins. Nice snack provided. Beautiful scenery. Not sure it’s a $180 trip. Your guide was very knowledgeable.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Nancy — I truly appreciate you joining the experience and your kind words about the scenery and the guide. Our Andes experience is designed to be a relaxed and scenic journey rather than a hike-focused activity, allowing guests to enjoy the landscapes, local stories, and a carefully selected stop at the ski lodge with regional snacks. We understand that each traveler has different expectations, and your comment helps us continue refining how we present the experience and its value. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Chile. Warm regards, Hermo
(Hermo) went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience of the Andes and Santiago Chile in general. He informed me that there's the Pre Andes and the Andes Mountains, indigenous cactus plants only found on the Pre Andres mountain, a water fall that provides the water in the river in Santiago, three ski resorts, a mountain town and that the mountain roads provide training for cyclist. Hermo made sure that I didn't leave the Andes Mountains without seeing the flying of the Condors. He even mentioned that a mummy was discovered on top of the Glacier during an excuvation which he rocked climbed. Hermo guided me on where to take some amazing pics. Definitely recommend that you asked for Hermo to provide you with an amazing Andes Mountains experience.
Our Guide (Hermo) was fantastic. A very informed, pleasant and enthusiastic young man. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the ski resort @ 3000 metres. This took around 1.25hrs as we had to negotiate lots of cyclists who were doing the same route. We stopped for photos and managed to see a family of Condors …. amazing. We then descended a few hundred metres where Hermo prepared some cheese, meats, savouries and of course, some excellent Chilean red wine. We did a small trek (not strenuous) and then it was time to return to our hotel. Total time from pickup to hotel return @ 4.5 hrs which was just perfect. Great trip to get a taster of the Andes and bask in the views.
