De tour van een halve dag door Korinthe is een geweldige kans om het prachtige landschap van de Saronische Golf en een van de belangrijkste archeologische vindplaatsen van Griekenland, het oude Korinthe, in slechts vijf uur te combineren.

We beginnen met een rit langs de kust. Onderweg ziet u enkele Griekse kustplaatsjes en het eiland Salamis (waar de historische zeeslag plaatsvond tussen de Atheners en de Perzen). Onze eerste stop is het kanaal van Korinthe. Geopend in 1892, scheidde het schiereiland Peloponnesos van de rest van Griekenland en verbond het de Saronische Golf met de Korinthische Zee. Je hebt tijd om over een voetgangersbrug te lopen om het kanaal dichterbij te bewonderen, (als je een game bent) op sommige dagen is bungeejumpen een optie.
Het oude Korinthe, gelegen aan de voet van de heuvel, omvat de Romeinse Agora van Korinthe, de tempel van God Apollo en een klein museum. Afgezien van zijn archeologische en historische belang is het oude Korinthe ook een van de meest populaire religieuze bestemmingen in Griekenland, aangezien hier de apostel Paulus het christendom predikte, werd geoordeeld door het tribunaal in de Agora en de best georganiseerde christelijke kerk van die periode vestigde.
De tempel van Apollo in Korinthe is een van de vroegste Dorische tempels op de Peloponnesos en op het Griekse vasteland. De archaïsche tempel, gebouwd rond 560 v.G.T., van lokale monolithische kalksteen op de top van een imposante, rotsachtige heuvel ten noorden van Acrocorinth, was een embleem voor de Griekse stad Korinthe en weerspiegelde haar groei en welvaart.
Het oude Korinthe wordt gedomineerd door de heuvel van Acrocorinth, het oudste en grootste kasteel in Zuid-Griekenland. We zullen hier stoppen voor enkele ongelooflijke foto's.

The history, views and experience were worth the trip! Terry was a wonderful guide. He shared so much with us. From the jaw dropping depths of the canal, the ancient ruins of the town? Exploring the remains of the castle on the hill and ending at St Paul’s workshop - now chapel, we were immersed into Corinth. So worth the time outside of Athens!

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He went above and beyond to make our time memorable. We enjoyed seeing the Corinth canals as well as Ancient Corinth. On the way back to our hotel, he even did a drive by of the Olympic stadium for us. He relayed just the right amount of information, lots of fun facts but did not overdo it.

Ancient Corinth was really neat and the museum was also nice. Our guide, Panos took us also to the castle which was something we were interested in and the highlight of my teens/adult kids’ tour! It was lovely to see where the apostle Paul started the first church in Corinthians and absorb the history of it all! Panos was informative of the highlights of our drive and the history. We also enjoyed the Corinth Canal which was remarkable. We recommend this tour!!

This is a must see journey. We did it before the full day in Athens. It was a perfect pre Athens. Our guide was Chris. He was informative and friendly. He was a perfect guide. We were never rushed to see ever site. If we wanted an extra few minutes for grabbing a sandwich, no problem! The agenda was great. We learned so much on the history and about the people in Greece. Terry was a fantastic driver/guide for our half day in Corinth. He met us as we departed the cruise ship and whisked us away to our first stop at the Corinth Canal and explained the history behind it. From there we had perfect timing between larger tour groups and explored a mostly empty Ancient Corinth and Archaeological museum. But what took our breath away was the view from the Acrocorinth. Definitely wish we had more time to explore! We finished out the half day with a nice lunch in new Corinth before heading to the airport. Would highly recommend this tour to all.
