Ontdek Santa Pola, met zijn Romeinse oorsprong, de spectaculaire zoutvlakten met hun prachtige roze lagune in Torrevieja, en het beroemde eiland Tabarca in een enkele dag. We beginnen ons avontuur in Torrevieja en trekken het natuurpark Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja in om de zoutbergen en de roze lagune te bewonderen. Bij onze volgende stop vanuit Santa Pola stappen we op een boot naar Tabarca Island, omgeven door de zee en bezaaid met traditionele nautische huizen. Na een korte rondleiding heb je vrije tijd om te zwemmen, foto's te maken en de lokale keuken te proeven. Vervolgens nemen we de boot terug naar Santa Pola, waar we het Romeinse havenverleden ontdekken met een kort bezoek aan de oude stad, waar we meer te weten komen over de rijke maritieme geschiedenis. Daarna heb je vrije tijd. Na de dag op deze prachtige plekken doorgebracht te hebben, brengen we je terug naar het startpunt van de activiteit. Nu boeken!

We wagen ons in de Lagunas de la Mata en het Torrevieja Natuurpark om de zoutvlakten te bewonderen, waar we de opvallende roze tint van de lagune niet willen missen, een gevolg van het natuurfenomeen dat zich in het wetland voordoet. Dit bezoek is inbegrepen in de tourprijs. Na een bezoek aan de zoutvlakten en het bewonderen van dit unieke landschap, dat ongetwijfeld enkele van de meest originele foto's zal opleveren, vervolgen we onze reis.
We komen aan in de haven van Santa Pola om de boot naar Tabarca te nemen.

De 1.800 meter lengte en de slechts 400 meter breedte maken dit eiland een plek waar u elke hoek te voet kunt verkennen. Er rijden geen auto's op straat. Alleen de zee, huizen in nautische stijl, en geweldige mensen. Tabarca boeit al haar bezoekers, van de meest avontuurlijke tot liefhebbers van de Middellandse Zee of watersport. Na een korte rondleiding door een deel van het eiland heb je vrije tijd om te zwemmen, foto's te maken en de heerlijke keuken te proeven.

In Santa Pola ontdekken we het Romeinse havenverleden met een kort bezoek aan de oude stad en leren we over de rijke geschiedenis gevormd door de zee. Daarna heb je vrije tijd om de straten, stranden of haven van dit vissersdorp te verkennen.

Torreviaje looks quite easy from a distance, on a map. You think oh it’s only a half hour walk! Or oh there’s a bus route right here! Or oh! We’ll just get a taxi. But when there are five of you that becomes complicated. So this tour was good value because it took away the stress of thinking about that, except that the start and end point was 40 minutes walk from the part of Torreviaje we were in. This is FAR when it is so hot. So point 1. I think maybe they could add one more pick up and drop off spot that is closer to the beach side of things. The second ‘negative’ is that to get to Tabarca Island costs 5 euro a head. And for this trip I paid £50 a head (no discount for children over 9). There’s no food included and no drinks. Just a bus, basically. Tabarca Island is insanely busy, you wait a long time for the boat, food that was rated 4.7/5 stars on Google in the restaurant we picked was distinctly average and every single spot of shade and beach is occupied. All of that said none of this is anyone’s ‘fault’ - the weather is crazy hot right now, it’s a really busy time of year, the waiters were doing their best (if grumpily) and actually knowing that the guide was there to take care of me was a comfort. He was great! His English and explanations were good and the tour around the salt lake was really interesting with good photo opps. The food was fine in the end. The boat ride was nice, if packed. There are lots of fish to look at so if you like snorkelling I’d do a strong recommend on investing in one of those fancy full face mask things. But was all of it worth £250?? I’m still not sure. Holiday money becomes a bit like wedding money. Not real until I can get home and look back with my rose tinted glasses on.

Did it independently, bus from La Mata to Santa Pola, and boat... total just over 15 euros each. Boats busy, loved Tabarca but pricey. Imagine it would be too packed in summer. "Glass bottom boat" only had a few grubby little windows!

Good day out, variety of experiences. Guide very pleasant and knowledgeable. Very warm on day we travelled and waiting for ferry back bit uncomfortable but manageable. Staff in restaurants on Tabarca not very pleasant but think this is a general opinion.

The first stop was the pink lagoon. A quick visit where I had time to take some photos and got information about Spain's salt industry. Then a boat trip out to the stunning island of Tabarca. Beautiful. Perfect for swimming and sunbathing or just strolling around in the stunning surroundings. Pretty high prices for food and drink. Bring plenty of sunscreen. Very nice and good guide who parried between Spanish and English in an excellent way. What took down the grade slightly was the waiting time on the boat for the return trip. It was 38 degrees and we had to queue for 60 minutes before departure with partial possibility of some shade.

Fantastic trip for a whole day. Our guide(2nd August 2025) was great. Her Spanish and English were perfect. She was really helpful and joyful. Tabarca is a great island to visit ( don't forget plenty of suncream;) ). It's an inexpensive trip with great views and a very polite guide.
