Ga op een boeiende rondleiding door Alicante, beginnend bij het levendige Plaza Puerta del Mar.In een uur tijd verkennen we het stedelijke landschap, duiken we in de oorsprong van de stad, de levendige festivals, gerenommeerde gastronomie en belangrijke sociale en culturele aspecten van het hedendaagse leven. Na onze stadswandeling nemen we een taxi naar het majestueuze Santa Bárbara kasteel. Hier leer je over de rijke geschiedenis van het fort, van de moslimoorsprong tot de twee belangrijke uitbreidingen en de strategische rol tijdens de Spaanse Burgeroorlog. Ga mee op een onvergetelijke reis door het verleden en heden van Alicante, waarbij historische inzichten worden gecombineerd met moderne charme. Het ontmoetingspunt. Een iconisch gebouw dat de komst van de XXe eeuw vertegenwoordigt. Gelegen op Explanada de España, vertegenwoordigt het de modernistische stijl van de stad en is het een gebouw dat een tijdperk in toerisme en stedelijke ontwikkeling markeerde. Vanaf hier beginnen we onze route door de stad om de meest charmante hoeken te ontdekken.
Het stadhuis is het hart van de stad, van waaruit Calle Mayor en de wijk Santa Cruz zich uitstrekken. Het is een omgeving vol leven, winkels, monumenten en restaurants waar bezoekers kunnen genieten van de manier van leven, stedelijke landschappen en onze beste producten. Het stadhuis werd gebouwd in de 18e eeuw en herbergt het meetpunt voor alle hoogtes in Spanje.
Een van de meest iconische uitzichten in de stad en de oude wijk. Een barokke kerk die de geschiedenis van de stad belichaamt en van waaruit we kunnen genieten van fantastische uitzichten. De kerk maakte deel uit van de stadsmuren en herbergt een interessante collectie barokke kunst. Direct ernaast is het museum voor hedendaagse kunst, van waaruit we een uniek panoramisch uitzicht over de stad hebben.
Het Kasteel van Santa Bárbara was de oorsprong van de moslimstad Alicante. Het heeft drie bouwperiodes en legt de belangrijkste gebeurtenissen uit die de stad heeft meegemaakt, van de moslimverovering tot de Spaanse Burgeroorlog. We passeren de Puerta de la Santa Faz om de "matxo" van het kasteel (het bovenste gedeelte) te bereiken, en daarna geniet u van een drankje op een van de meest magische terrassen van de stad.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and the history of the area that he provided was excellent. The castle was amazing!

My wife and I met Javier. We started with a shuttle ride up to Santa Barbara Castle. As the shuttle ride wound its way up the castle Javier began telling us about the history of some of the sights/buildings the shuttle passed. When we made our way to the castle the history of the castle from the early beginnings to the present day continued. Javier was an amazing guide through history of not only the castle but also Alicante as far as the eyes could see. Our tour of the castle finished by walking down to Alicante through the barrio Santa Cru (?) known for it’s narrow pathways with white homes and blue color. Javier showed us discovered ruins in the city, churches, museums, the large nativity scene and so much more which I can’t describe here. It seemed that every time we turned a corner there was another piece of history which we happened upon. And with every turn there was someone who knew Javier. What could be more of a compliment than in a city that with every turn Javier was seemingly known by so many. Javier we can only say thank you for sharing your knowledge of Alicante and Spain with us. Great job!

I would give this tour company a zero if I could. They didn’t show up and left us stranded. We called them 10 times, sent messages and waited for 45 minutes. They ruined our only day in Alicante. Do not book with this company.

Tour guide never showed up and we tried calling 10 different times and no answer. Contacted Viator to hopefully get refunded.
