The overall trip to alcatraz was awesome! It says they deliver the tickets the day before your scheduled tour. We were stressed the day before because we hadn't received anything but we called Viator and they were very helpful and contacted them and had our tickets sent to us within the hour. They say arrive 30 minutes before your time, but i seen people arrive 5 minutes before, and they still got on the ferry. It would just depend if you want to find good seating in the ferry or you could be standing. It's only a 10-15 minute ride to the island. When you arrive at the island, it is a steep 3 part up the hill to the audio tour. If you can't walk that, they have carts going up for your assistance. The tour was cool. They supply you with headphones and a gadget to hear the tour at your pace. This specific tour with TripAdvisor comes with an audio tour before getting to the island, but we didn't listen to it. We were too amazed with the ferry ride and the beautiful view of the city. My suggestion would be if you're planning a trip to alcatraz, book it ahead of time on their website where its like $40-$50, instead of overpaying on TripAdvisor. But if you're last minute like us and can't find any tickets for your dates, then TripAdvisor will save the day.
I 100% would not recommend if you are on a tight schedule or fly in the day of the activity. The vendor is not flexible or accommodating to issues that arise that are out of the customers hands. My flight was canceled and rebooked for a flight later in the day, which caused me to miss my scheduled tour time. I was hoping to be accommodated and switch to a tour on the next day, but the vendor is extremely firm about the cancelation policy with no flexibility or exceptions allowed. So all and alll I am out of $200 for a situation that was out of my control. This is a bad business practice in my opinion.

During the summer season, our boats and tours operate at full capacity, and our tickets are booked for a specific date and time. Because those seats are held and cannot be resold once a departure has passed, our cancellation and rescheduling policy requires changes to be made in advance — which is why we're unable to move a booking to another day after the original time has passed. We know that's little comfort when the delay was completely outside your control, and we're sorry for the position it left you in. For travelers flying in the same day, we always recommend booking a tour for the following day or later where possible, and we'd encourage anyone in a similar situation to contact us as soon as a delay is known — the earlier we hear from you, the more options we have. We're sorry for the inconvenience and truly understand your frustration. We'd welcome the opportunity to make things right on a future visit to San Francisco — please reach out to us directly beforehand and we'll do everything we can to ensure a smooth experience.

The ease of Purchasing the tickets was great. The communication after the tickets were purchased was excellent. The instructions on the emails were clear and precise. The only unfortunate event was that many of the areas on alcatraz were closed.

Boat was dingy and dirty but had a nice view and safety instructions were unclear and I didn't like that

I missed the boat due to upset stomach on the way to the pier. My grandson went without me and he enjoyed it.

I was very disappointed as I e-mailed 3 times on different days to bring out trip forward as it stated on the confirmation e-mail "if we want to change out trip contact the operator which I clicked on but had no reply.

Overall what you could see was very good however, a lot of it is currently closed (such as the hospital) which would make it a lot better. Have to say I was disappointed but renovation works are necessary.
