This tour was definitely an eye opener. Very detailed on the truth we weren't aware before
It's amazing! Definitely bring a jacket because it was freezing and windy! I would recommend that you wear good shoes because its a long elevated walk! Also if you are handicapped or having trouble walking they provide a tram or golf cart !😊😊😊

When I purchased these tickets for my family, I was under the impression that we would see the usual day areas, as well as the hospital and showers. We did not. Not only that, but in the past, I was able to see the showers--not this time. I paid $20 more. After the self-guided audio tour, we were just left on our own. There were other areas we were able to see, but they were tricky to find. Only one real person was presenting at one of the stations. The rest of the locations were either videos or required us to think up questions for the people at the stations at the models. I wish I had purchased the day tour. I also don't feel like the crowd was really that much smaller than the day tour.

Stinks to high heaven of bird poo. Seagulls home now. Very run down and we felt very grim after our visit. It was Interesting to see and it is a famous tourist trap but beware on value for money too. The exhibit was shut as we arrived at 1pm! Apparently due to staffing ( yet people stood doing nothing) it's a catch 22 on this one, you don't go you may regret as it's famous but at the same time it's a lot of money and leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.
Book this trip a month ago and travelled to San Francisco from the UK. I was really looking forward to Alcatraz!!! On reflection seeing the island from the bay would have been enough. Did not live up to expectations at all, parts of it were closed and all seemed very dirty (yes I know it’s an historic place) but felt very neglected. The actual prison is very small and within an hour we were bored and wanted to come home. Glad it’s off the list, but definitely wouldn’t go back.

Please don't buy it! They charge extra money for the same experience way too much. If you want them to make money on your account for nothing,buy it! Book in advance from the official site and don't buy from them!

I was booked for Alcatraz with 5 of my friends for 6:30. I then recieved a text from Viator saying that the excursion was delayed until 7:10 and I replied back okay, assuming that the whole trip was delayed. I was lied to because the trip was not delayed. I was made to get on a later boat and all of my friends were put on the ORIGINAL boat at 6:30. My money should be refunded.

Great experience with the night tour, got the QR code a day before so I didn't have to stand in a queue and could directly join the ferry boarding queue. Recommend carrying a thick jacket because it gets cold on the upper deck of the ferry.
We really enjoyed our visit to Alcatraz as a family. It was such an interesting and memorable experience, and we all learned so much about the history of the island and the prison. The audio tour was especially engaging and really brought the stories of Alcatraz to life. It was fascinating for both the adults and the kids, and the views of San Francisco and the bay were beautiful as well. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to San Francisco and an experience we would highly recommend!
