Al Jahili Fort is een cultureel centrum geweest van activiteiten in verband met filosofie en erfgoed van Abu Dhabi in de Garden City. Al Jahili is een van de grootste forten in de VAE en werd in de jaren 1890 gebouwd op bevel van Zayed The First als de thuisbasis voor leden van de heersende familie van Al Nahyan.
Qasr al-Ain of "Al Ain Palace", is een van de best gerestaureerde forten in het emiraat Abu Dhabi. Het museum toont het dagelijkse leven in het fort van een heerser toen wijlen Sheikh Zayed en zijn familie vóór 1966 in het paleis verbleven. De architectuur in Bedoeïenenstijl dateert uit 1937 en werd in 1998 omgezet in een museum als een belangrijke culturele en toeristische attractie.
De historische oase strekt zich uit over 3000 hectare en biedt een uniek inzicht in de bewoners van de regio die 4000 jaar geleden de woestijn begonnen te temmen. De Al Ain Oasis is sinds 2011 een UNESCO-werelderfgoed, maar nu pas, met de bouw van een educatief Eco-centrum en een uitgebreid systeem van schaduwrijke paden die door zo'n 147.000 dadels slingeren. De site herbergt tot 100 verschillende soorten vegetatie die de indrukwekkende oase omringen, met wijdverbreide plantages die ook werkende boerderijen zijn.
De beroemde kamelenmarkt van Al Ain is een prachtige onderdompeling in de traditionele Arabische cultuur. Van jonge Arabische kamelen die misschien racers worden tot indrukwekkende volwassen kamelen die ideaal zijn voor de fokkerij, de markt is een unieke ervaring om het dier dat een speciale plek in het erfgoed van Emirati heeft, van dichterbij te bekijken.
Fotostop: Jebel Hafit is 1.240 meter hoog en is de hoogste piek van het emiraat en de tweede in de VAE. Deze torenhoge rotsachtige hoogte, die de wacht houdt over Al Ain en grenst aan Oman, is gesmeed uit steile kalksteen die al miljoenen jaren verweerd is. Er zijn belangrijke fossiele ontdekkingen gedaan in het gebied, die vitale stukken zijn in de puzzel van de oude geschiedenis van de stad.
Deze groene uitgestrektheid aan de voet van Jebel Hafeet is een ander spektakel dat de rijke natuurreservaten van Al Ain laat zien. De Green Mubazzarah, een populaire hotspot voor picknicks en familie-uitjes, zit boordevol gezinnen om van de zon te genieten, avonturiers de berg op wandelen en kampeerders die de nacht in tenten aan de basis kunnen doorbrengen.

we did a one-day tour as a couple to Al Ain. The company was very serious, there were only us but the tour was still guaranteed with a minibus. At our complete disposal the driver-guide (Jakir) who was precise in taking us to all the places planned by the tour managing the timing and movements. kind and thoughtful. We visited the planned sites. absolutely beautiful and unmissable to get to know this exceptional land and population. Tradition, respect and kindness are everywhere, Al Ain is full of history and culture, everything is orderly and well kept. fascinating customs and the spirit of determination and dignity that has allowed this land to transform in an enviable way. Lunch planned in a luxurious hotel with refined dishes. Absolutely a tour not to be missed. Only one visit missed because the site was under renovation. Maybe it could have been replaced with another stage, but this allowed us to stay longer in the other stages.

Absolutely worth doing if you've got a little more time in Dubai (UAE). An escape from the city & how it came to be! If you love history & want to experience the historical side of the UAE & what life was like pre oil, then this is a must do! You get to see & experience the old fort & royal palace + enjoy a great all you can eat buffet. There's also the mountain range at the end with a spectacular view. The camel site is not for the faint hearted though... It's a great cultural experience, but also a sad one (even as a meat eater). Our tour guide was Rilwan Mohama'd. He was very kind & informative. He told us lots about each site we visited. He also did a pit stop on the drive back to Dubai for a quick drink & loo break. My only slight niggle, is the lunch is a bit later in the tour, so definitely bring a water bottle & little snack (crisps or something to nibble in the car). We left our bags in the car at each side we visited.

We have chosen Full Day Al Ain Tour with lunch to discover the UNESCO oasis. Our tour guide Razwan was very kind. We visited AL Jahili Fort, Al Ain Palace Museum, Al Ain Oasis, Camel Market, Jabal Hafeet panoramic viewpoint (unfortunately during the tour you don’t visit the summit) and Mubazarah Hot Springs. Some stops could be longer but overall I recommend the tour. Futhermore, the very delicious lunch was included.
