Begin onze 1-daagse Agafay-woestijnreis, de woestijn die het dichtst bij Marrakech ligt. Een heuvelachtig, dor landschap in de uitlopers van de Atlas de Agafay-woestijn is een speeltuin voor liefhebbers van quads en buggy's met op de achtergrond vaak besneeuwde bergtoppen. Vervolgens pauzeer je voor thee bij Lake Takerkoust, een populair recreatiemeer voor een weekend in Marrakchi vanuit de stad. Varen, zwemmen en zeilen zijn hier populaire activiteiten. Je wordt opgehaald bij je hotel of bij de dichtstbijzijnde parkeerplaats en rijdt naar de Agafay-woestijn. Onderweg waren er volop fotomomenten en krijg je enig inzicht in de geschiedenis van de Berbers.
ga off-road en rijd door een heel ander landschap van steenwoestijn, kale lichtbruine plateaus, bedoeïenendorp, oase dan hoge heuvels met panoramisch uitzicht op de Hoge Atlas
Een paar uur later verschijnen er kleine stukjes groen en niet lang daarna sta je weer op de geasfalteerde weg die wordt omzoomd door de oude eucalyptusbomen. Je komt aan aan de rand van het Lalla Takerkoust-meer, gebouwd als een dam waar Marrakech zijn elektriciteit krijgt.
In Aguergour heb je de mogelijkheid om een Berberhuis te bezoeken en binnen te lunchen.
Bezoek het immense Plateau van Kik met landschappen zover het oog reikt. De uitzichten zijn erg mooi en variëren naargelang het seizoen (besneeuwde toppen in de winter, fruitbomen in bloei in de lente...)
Stop in Asni, een klein stadje (markt op zaterdag) met uitzicht op Toubkal, de hoogste top van Noord-Afrika. Daarna passeert u de kloven van Moulay Brahim, de Ghighaya-vallei en Tahanouete voordat u naar Marrakech gaat.

What a day! When your very custom day trip plan turns out even better than expected! From Marrakesh through the Atlas Mountains, Ait Ben Haddou to Ouzarate then back to Agafay Desert for the best meal with the view of the sunset and a perfect dinner setup for my boyfriends birthday (and the cake) - no words! Lahcen was exceptional during the booking/planning process and Mustapha delivered it to absolute perfection! We had a great day trip, picked up promptly at our hotel by Jamal, our delightful driver, in a clean, safe, air-conditioned car. We visited the Agafay desert, about one hour outside of Marrakech. We climbed the highest point in the desert (not a difficult climb) for a wonderful perspective on the vast desert and a nearby village. We had lunch in a Berber village. Jamal is a personable, warm and intelligent man, who answered all our questions and provided a great deal of history and cultural insight. We returned to our hotel tired, but happy. So pleased were we with Jamal's company, that we requested him for another excursion the following day. Highly recommended tour, extraordinary driver.
A very successful day tour. Jamal, our "guide" was very friendly, polite and pleasant. He told us a lot and explained, knows great spots, is a good driver and very responsive to our wishes. We were 3 people on this tour to the Agafay Desert with the Gide Ismael, really nice Gide, always explaining us everything and making sure everything was alright. I’m sure we’ll be back and do the tour to the Sahara. I recommend this tour to everyone.
We were 3 friends and went with a guide named Ismael and he showed us all of the villages and explained every detail. It was very cool to know the city, and ride the camel. Next time I need to do the 2/3 day trip to de desert.
Our guide was informative and friendly. We had a really interesting day in the Agafay Desert, in a Berber village (where we had the most delicious lunch in incredible surroundings) and a mini-hike up the mountain to another village with one of the women from the village. Lots of stops for photos and all in all a wonderful day.
We had a great day trip from Marrakech to Agafay Desert with views of the Atlas Mountains. It included a short camel ride and a delicious meal at the home of a Berber family. Our guide Mohammad was informative, fun and hospitable, and the trip was well planned by AST. The company provided quick responses during the booking process. The tour was very interesting and varied. A special highlight was lunch with a Berber family in the Atlas Mountains. We were warmly welcomed to this Berber family and first guided through their village, where we received some exciting information. Afterwards, we were served an excellent 4-course menu with this Berber family. Saida, the daughter of the family, could even speak some English. Also our driver Hamed was very warm and great. He was very responsive to our wishes. A highly recommended excursion.
