Deze ervaring stelt mensen in staat een uniek moment te ervaren, zich onderdompelend in smaken, aroma's, geluiden en gedragingen van een zeer oude cultuur die een direct onderdeel is van de geschiedenis van Brazilië, met al zijn etnische mixen die de gastronomische identiteit en de muziek van een volk redden en nog steeds onbekend bij velen.

Het Morrinho Project, permanent tentoongesteld in het Rio Art Museum (MAR), is een fascinerende installatie die het stereotiepe beeld van de Braziliaanse favela's uitdaagt. Het model dat permanent tentoongesteld wordt in MAR reproduceert in detail de straten, inwoners en het dagelijkse leven van de favela Pereira da Silva en toont de culturele en sociale rijkdom van deze ruimte. Een bezoek aan Projeto Morrinho no MAR is een unieke kans om de favela vanuit een nieuwe invalshoek te bekijken, waarbij de creativiteit, gemeenschap en veerkracht die deze ruimtes bepalen, worden benadrukt. Het is een ervaring die de complexiteit en schoonheid van het leven in de favela’s onthult, ver voorbij de stereotypen van geweld. Voor degenen die de realiteit en cultuur van Rio de Janeiro beter willen begrijpen, is Morrinho een essentiële stop.
We zullen nadenken over de kunst van Eduardo Kobra, de grootste muurschildering van graffiti ter wereld, met bewondering voor aspecten van voorouderlijke etnische groepen, zeer oude culturen die direct en indirect deel uitmaken van de geschiedenis van Brazilië.
We zullen de archeologische vindplaats bezoeken, de permanente tentoonstelling van de beenderen van Afrikanen die in de plaats zijn ontdekt en we zullen verrast zijn door de impact hiervan op het begrip van de slavenperiode in Brazilië.
We bezoeken de historische site van de Pier van Valongo en de regio die bekend staat als Little Africa, we zullen de geschiedenis en tradities en het belang ervan voor de geschiedenis van de mensheid leren kennen.
We zullen de overgebleven gemeenschap van Quilombo Pedra do Sal ontmoeten, een plaats van cultureel verzet, fundamenteel voor het voortbestaan van Afro-afstammelingen en het behoud van hun erfgoed, waar de Cariocas trots hun rijke Afro-Braziliaanse nalatenschap vieren met wekelijkse openluchtsamba-sessies.
Onderdompeling in het rijke Afrikaanse culturele erfgoed in Rio - Het benadrukken van de gastronomie, met het proeven van typische gerechten uit de Afro-Braziliaanse en Yoruba-keuken, zeer gebruikelijk in de dagelijkse praktijk van religies van Afrikaanse afkomst. Muzikaliteit - een percussieworkshop, met een instructeur en een drummer van het Afrikaanse continent, laten we ons concentreren op deze cultuur die mensen tot op de dag van vandaag beïnvloedt.
Largo de São Francisco da Prainha is een levendige en cultureel rijke plek in Rio de Janeiro, waar geschiedenis, muziek en het stadsleven in perfecte harmonie samenkomen. Wanneer de zon ondergaat achter Morro da Conceição, komt Largo tot leven met de klanken van samba, funk, jazz en chorinho, waardoor een ontspannen en gastvrije sfeer ontstaat. Met buitentafels, koud bier en snacks uit lokale bars is de ruimte ideaal om te genieten van een levendige avond met vrienden, familie of zelfs om nieuwe mensen te ontmoeten. Bovendien wordt Largo omringd door prachtige gebouwen met Portugese architectuur, die een duik in de geschiedenis en cultuur van Rio bieden. Een bezoek aan Largo de São Francisco da Prainha is essentieel voor iedereen die de authentieke Rio-ziel wil ervaren in een van de coolste buurten ter wereld.

What a wonderful tour for us Australians to learn more about the African history of Brazil. Isabel tailored tour to suit us walking thru various neighbourhoods explaining their relevance. Lunch was lovely highly recommend!
This was a great tour for folks who want to know what it’s like to be Black in Brazil and to get a diasporic perspective. Jaíse is clearly very passionate about all of the above and this tour is a great testament to this. I believe she’s gonna be putting together a local R&B tour soon and i can’t wait to come back and check that out someday! So many landmarks and historical events are covered here - phenomenal!

The whole tour was very enlightening and packed with REAL historical facts about Brazil and the first enslaved people who were brought here to work under harsh conditions but became the heart beat of Afro Brazilian culture that permeates throughout this country and a true reflection of Brazil’s backbone. As a black man it was great to see the struggles our ancestors suffered but through resilience and strength along with love grew a Culture unmatched in this region. A must do for all African(Hebrew) descendants.
I had an amazing experience on this tour. Our guide, Isabella, was very knowledgeable and passionate. I learned so much about the deep African roots in Brazilian culture. From the music and dance to the food and history, every part of the tour was vibrant and unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a rich, cultural experience!

We experienced alot on our trip to Brazil. We spent some time in Rio then traveled to Paraty. This was by far one of our most memorable experiences! This was a very good tour! Isabella does an outstanding job and really knows her history of the Afro-Brazilians. Unfortunately the museums were closed the day we did the tour since it was Christmas Eve. Be mindful of that of visiting on holidays or guests should be given a heads up so they have a chance to change the dates if possible. With that said, I would still highly recommend this tour in Little Africa. It’s a must do especially for Black Americans visiting Rio!
