Ervaar de Atherton Tablelands in één onvergetelijke dag Ontdek de schoonheid, wilde dieren en verhalen van de Atherton Tablelands tijdens dit dagvullende avontuur met kleine groepen vanuit Cairns. Reis buiten de kust naar een van de meest diverse regio's van Tropical North Queensland, waar het regenwoud van het Werelderfgoed plaatsmaakt voor open savannevlakten, vruchtbare vulkanische landbouwgrond en weidse landschappen. Terwijl het landschap verandert, deelt uw Gids boeiende commentaren op de geschiedenis, het milieu en de landbouw van de regio - van oude regenwouden en vulkanische bodems tot wat hier vandaag wordt verbouwd en hoe het land het lokale leven vormt. Hier kijken we uit over het prachtige natuurlijke kratermeer omgeven door weelderig regenwoud. We genieten van een heerlijk ontbijt met lokale producten en lokale koffie en thee in het originele Victoriaanse theehuis.
Winter & Mann privé-eigendom Hier proeven we een scala aan lokaal gemaakte en geproduceerde producten in hun prachtige huis in Queenslander, terwijl uw gastheer Anna uitlegt waar alles vandaan komt en wordt verbouwd of gemaakt. Daarna bezoeken we hun prachtige winkel waar gemeenschaps-, duurzaamheids- en familiewaarden naadloos samenvloeien. Het ethos draait om het verdedigen van de lokale gemeenschap door samen te werken met meer dan 140 opmerkelijke bedrijven in Noord-Queensland. Als je iets van het lekkers wilt kopen dat je zojuist hebt geproefd, koop je niet alleen maar producten; je neemt actief deel aan het maken van een positieve impact op de levens van hardwerkende individuen en gezinnen die geworteld zijn in de Far North Queensland-gemeenschap.

Boerderijlunch bij Shaylee Strawberry Farm Geniet van een prachtig verse lunch op Shaylee Strawberry Farm, met lokale producten en kenmerkende aardbeien lekkernijen.
We gaan nu richting het historische dorp Atherton. Als we door dit bloeiende knooppunt rijden, verschijnt een lappendeken van verbazingwekkende landbouwgrond en glooiende groene heuvels voor ons. We zijn op weg naar een volledig operationele melkveehouderij verspreid over 1000 hectare rijke rode vulkanische grond met heerlijke handgemaakte chocolaatjes en een gastronomische kaasfabriek.
Stop bij 'The Humpy', de beste plek om naar toe te gaan voor vers geoogste Atherton Tablelands-producten rechtstreeks van de telers. Van groenten tot tropisch fruit en honderden verschillende soorten noten, gedroogd fruit, lokaal geproduceerde jam en sauzen. Proef wat seizoensfruit en veel verschillende smaken van warme lokale pinda's en macadamia-noten.
Hier stoppen we voor een proeverij van een aantal bekroonde sterke dranken en genieten we van de prachtige tuinen en vriendelijke dieren.
Emerald Creek Ice creamery is onze laatste stop van de dag met een proefschaal van tropisch fruitijs en sorbets

This was a great tour all around the Atherton tablelands, lots of great food, fresh produce, and good drinks! Chris was amazing, super funny and entertaining and everyone had a great time listening to him talk about the history of the area as we drove around. Beautiful scenery and great stops all around while getting to support local businesses. 10/10 ♥️

This was a nice tour that included a lot of food and drink opportunities. Chris also taught us about the farming done in the area- lots of sugarcane, fruit, and other vegetables. Breakfast at Lake Barrine Teahouse was definitely the highlight of the day. It was a gorgeous setting with the best food (maybe the best I have eaten my entire trip) and a pretty latte. The other stops included a personal home where we sampled many local products, a trip to a store where we could buy them, a lunch of kangaroo, crocodile, and crayfish ("red claws"), a distillery tasting room (also gorgeous, on a farm property with llamas, peacocks, and goats), a fruit stand, and an ice cream shop. I didn't care for any of the wine or liquor I sampled, but am glad I had the opportunity to try flavors that are different from what is sold at home. Chris also helped us spot a platypus! He let us take our time and watch it for a while as it swam around and kept popping up in different parts of the lake. Itwas much smaller than I expected!

A small 10 seater with 2 Aussies and 8 Americans, from 4 groups who did not know each other beforehand. This made for a great combination and a magic day. Driver/guide Chris B was a delight and a wealth of info. Breaky and lunch were incredible and all 7 stops for tastings and experiences make this a trip not to be missed. Even saw platypus. We gave it 10/10

I went yesterday on a food and wine tasting tour with the amazing Chris B and Andrea and what a fantastic experience it was! Right from the start I could see that Chris had an extensive knowledge and understanding of the region and its history which he shared so eloquently in his warm and friendly tone of voice, with a bit os Aussie humour thrown in of course!) On our journey he explained in great detail all the places we were to visit, and each and every place exceeded my expectations. Chris navigated the Gillies Range expertly, enabling me to feel safe on the winding roads and he and Andrea were so gracious in helping me to embark and disembark from the tour bus, as they could see that I needed help. Our food and wine stops were literally out of this world, exceeding all of my expectations. Chris and Andrea were both very gracious to shop owners allowing them explain the history of their businesses as well as the way in which we could use their products. This opened up a new world to me as I was taught how to use Davidson's plum jam on my roast chicken! The venues were obviously chosen by Chris meticulously so that we travelers could get the most out of each experience. I am not usually a wine drinker, and Chris was sensitive to this as he gently and kindly encouraged, but never pressured me to drink what was on offer. Chris and Andrea, with the help of the kind and caring Leone, created a 'family' feel to the tour, making sure that our overseas visitors from South Korea and the UK felt comfortable and fully included. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience, one I will always look back and reflect on. I strongly recommend this tour which has something for everyone, whether you are a local in Cairns, an interstate visitor or from another country.
