Nationaal Museum van Ghana, Barnes., Accra, Ghana Het grootste en oudste van de acht (8) musea die worden gerund door de Ghana Museum and Monuments Board is het National Museum of Ghana. De permanente tentoonstelling van het nationale museum toont items als oppergerei, archeologische artefacten, modellen van inheemse Ghanese architectuur, etnomedicine of traditionele medicijnen, inheemse ijzertechnologie, gouden gewichten en juwelendoosjes, krukken, traditionele keukenopstelling, kralen, aardewerk, oude valuta, staatsvoorzitter, presidentiële geschenken en auto's, overgangsritueel en samen-kinderhoek met boeiende hands-on-activiteiten. Deze artefacten zijn verzameld om het verhaal van ons collectief te vertellen. Maar wat nog belangrijker is om te benadrukken hoe onderling verbonden en afhankelijk we zijn, ondanks het feit dat we verschillende culturele vormen en tradities hebben.
Makola Market is een van de drukste, grootste en kleurrijke open markten die we hebben in West-Afrika, het is een plaats van alle commerciële activiteiten in de stad, het is altijd een one-stop-markt waar je precies de dingen kunt hebben die je nodig hebt, zoals geïmporteerde kleding, lokaal textiel, boerderijproducten en verschillende soorten kralen en etc. De markt is druk van maandag tot zaterdag
Rijd door de historische wijk Jamestown en bekijk de forten, vissersdorpen, gevangenissen en vuurtorens
Het Centrum voor Nationale Cultuur bevindt zich aan de 28th February Road, in de buurt van het herdenkingspark en het Mausoleum van Kwame Nkrumah Slenteren door de vele kraampjes en alles zien en kopen van sculpturen, stoffen, sieraden en kleding
Reizigers zullen het historische Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park verkennen, de laatste rustplaats van Ghana's eerste president en onafhankelijkheid Leider, Kwame Nkrumah. Gasten wandelen door prachtig aangelegde tuinen, bezoeken het museum met foto's, persoonlijke bezittingen en historische artefacten en leren over de reis van Ghana naar onafhankelijkheid. Reizigers hebben ook de mogelijkheid om het iconische mausoleum, symbolische beelden, fonteinen en monumenten te zien terwijl ze genieten van geweldige fotomogelijkheden en culturele verhalen van de Gids.

I truly enjoyed the tour of Accra provided by Root Tours. Our driver, Jeff, was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. He arrived to the pick up location early and he ensured that the tour was tailored to our liking. The tour started with a visit to the National Museum of Ghana and it offered a deep dive into the country’s art, history, and anthropology. Our guide’s explanations added depth to the experience. We then headed to the vibrant Makola Market before passing through Jamestown where we were able to see the area and the Jamestown Lighthouse. Next, we visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum, where visitors are offered a comprehensive look at his life, from his early years to his role in leading Ghana to independence. The tour and exhibits were well-curated, featuring personal artifacts, photographs, and documents that gave deeper insight into his leadership and vision. We also stopped by Independence Arch and Square. Jeff graciously offered to take pictures of our group throughout the day, and he navigated the journey with ease, which made our group feel comfortable and relaxed. The last stop of the tour was at the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, where we learned about Du Bois’ impact on Pan-Africanism and his connection to Ghana. It was a wonderful experience. The tour exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who considers themselves to be a history buff as well as anyone looking to explore Accra’s unique blend of history, culture, and modern life.

This review is long overdue because David is the best tour guide Ghana has to offer. He is personable, knowledgeable, and professional while providing a tailored travel experience in Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Benin-Togo, etc. During my family vacation to Ghana, David guided us through local Accra city tours, excursions, and nightlife. We experienced Black Star Square, W.E.B DuBois memorial Center and Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, James Fort, Fisherman Village, Kakum Canopy Walkway, Asenema Waterfall, Aburi Botanical Gardens, the Chosen Children's Home orphanage tour, and more. In addition we went to many restaurants for local food, Buka Lounge, and Bloom Bar just to name a couple. My favorite part about Ghana is the breath taking ocean and beach vibe, I think about it often. David was very helpful with transportation arrangements, market bargaining, and suggestions. He also told us about free apps similar to Uber or Lyft for independent navigation around Accra. We stayed in beautiful resorts like Lemon Beach and Labadi, while also having nice budget friendly options. He is great at accommodating based on preference and budget. His positive attitude makes your travel experience enjoyable. I will definitely be back to Ghana and I highly recommend touring with David aka Mr.TourGuide. I worked with Root Tours to plan my two itinerary for my first visit to Ghana. We traveled throughout Accra and took a road trip to Volta, Kumasi and Cape Coast. They took care of every detail including sites, meals, shopping and transportation. We even enjoyed nightlife. They recommended great accommodations and scheduled guides at each site. Sampson, my guide/driver, even served as my personal photographer making sure to capture every moment so I could fully enjoy each site.
