Acatenango Vulkaan Overnachting Tour

Did a solo hike and booked with OX, highly recommend! Everyone was so nice and helpful. I speak English and Spanish but their guides were bilingual. They both answered any questions and concerns while also encouraging you through out the hike. The view from the top of Volcano Fuego was unforgettable!

They were very responsive through their website to book. Their communication lacks a bit and you learn stuff in the pre-meeting that was not on the infographic. But an amazing experience. The trek to base camp is challenging but very doable. The trek up Fuego is steeper and loose rock but doable. The summit was very hard. The pitch was insane. But the volcano and what you see is worth all of it.

Amazing experience; from start to finish they look after you and never leave you behind. The foods great and the guides are so lovely. Would definitely recommend.

I did the Acatenango + Fuego overnight hike with OX Expeditions in April. Looking back on the experience, I have mixed feelings. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and our guides were wonderful — very kind, attentive, and genuinely lovely people. There are, however, a couple of things I think OX could improve. First, food and wine were distributed among the participants, but we were only informed about this the evening before the hike. I had packed a backpack specifically for my own things and calculated the weight accordingly, so this unexpected extra load was a problem. I ended up having to use a larger backpack and hire a porter. I think this information should be provided well in advance so people can plan their packing and weight accordingly. The second issue was the cold at the camp. It was EXTREMELY cold at night, to the point where basically nobody in our group could sleep. We wore all the clothes we had, including jackets and hats, and were still shaking from the cold. The sleeping bags simply were not adequate for the temperatures we experienced. Unfortunately, because I got literally no sleep, I wasn’t able to do the Acatenango summit hike in the morning, which was very disappointing. The hike itself and the views were unforgettable, and I’m very grateful to our guides. However, I think these issues are important to address, especially the sleeping conditions, as they had a real impact on the experience.

Exceptionally well organised hike up Acatenango. Liam was an excellent guide always attentive and safe. Dont be shy of the big group dynamics ( we were about 25) it worked very well indeed sharing the experience with so many diverse people. The food was generous and tasty. Great trip thoroughly recommended.

The experience was incredible! Without a doubt, from the meeting the day before where they explain everything related to the tour, they include several options for clothing, a flashlight, and even a backpack if you need it, which helps a lot if you don't have the necessary equipment; the food included is very good, the service in the offices and the guides are undoubtedly the best! Super attentive the whole time during the hikes and at base camp! The base camp is also very well equipped for sleeping and also has two bathrooms! And of course the path and the views of the volcanoes are incredible! I highly recommend the agency if you want to have a great experience!

Great tour, exceeded my expectations.

I had a great time with ox expeditions. They started out with a pre trip meeting that really helped me feel organised and prepared for the trip. They took great care of everyone in the group the whole time. My favourite part about the trip was tht they leave earlier than all the other groups for both the hike itself and the optional feugo hike. This meant we were alone on the mountain and it didnt get stuck in traffic jams. Overall 10/10 experience!
