Volgens de gevraagde tijd haalt de gids je op bij je hotel in Aswan en rijdt naar het zuiden van Aswan, wat ongeveer 3 uur rijden is om te genieten van de Abu Simbel-dagtour vanuit Aswan met een voertuig met airconditioning. De twee tempels van Abu Simbel worden met hun unieke stijl beschouwd als de meesterwerken van het oude Egypte. Ze weerspiegelen de glorie en grootsheid van het nieuwe koninkrijk. De Egyptische regering en UNESCO besloten samen te werken om deze tempels van de overstroming te redden. De Tempel van Ramses II was gewijd aan de vier universele goden Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re en aan Ramses II zelf. De grote tempel van Abu Simbel wordt ook wel de Zonnetempel van Ramses II genoemd. De tempel van koningin Nefertari wordt ook wel de Tempel van Hathor genoemd, die de vrouw was van de Zonnegod, dus op symbolische wijze zijn de twee tempels, die van Ramses II en die van Nefertari, breng Ramses II, Nefertari, Hathor en de Zonnegod samen als één. Breng daar ongeveer 3 uur door en neem dan de terugweg naar Aswan.

This was a good trip. We had a minibus just for the 4 of us, and a guide joined us as of Aswan. They took us to a nice restaurant afterwards, in Abu Simbel town, a bit away from the site, so with acceptable pricing.
Abu Simbel is a great temple to visit despite the world. However, we question the usefulness of the guide for this visit. We spent a total of 10 minutes with the guide who showed us pictures of the inside of the temple because he could not enter. The explanations were quick and we were dispatched. In addition, the car for 8 hours round trip was out of age and not comfortable.

This is an official regulation applied to all tour guides. Therefore, the historical explanation is always given before entering the temple, often using photographs to help visitors understand the carvings and scenes they will see during their self-guided visit inside. Regarding the vehicle, we were surprised by your comment. All tourist transportation vehicles used for this excursion comply with the regulations of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, which require licensed tourist vehicles to be modern, regularly inspected, and maintained. The vehicle used for your tour was a recent model that fully met these official standards. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for visiting Egypt. Included in the excursion was a bottle of water and a snack that we were not given. It says the guide was coming with us from Aswan and you picked him up 5 minutes from Abu Simbel. The explanation was correct.
It was just perfect! The smooth communication via what’s app to schedule the hotel meeting, the driver’s drive and the guide who spoke excellent French made this experience an unforgettable moment to discover this sublime site! The possibility to leave out of step with the groups of tourists (they leave at 4am) means that we end up on the site with much fewer tourists and allows to fully enjoy the places. Support top! Be careful if you stay on an island the rendezvous will be on the east shore of Aswan but the connection is simple (ferry 15EG/pers) Our guide Ahmed Salah was perfect! He even pointed us to a great restaurant before the return. Departed at 9am - arrive 12.30pm in Abu Simbel - left at 3pm after the restaurant - return Aswan 6pm
Excellent tour highly recommended. 3 hr drive each way, glad it wasn't me driving. The site itself was impressive.
I had booked and confirmed this trip with the tour operator, Marawan, well ahead of time. Yet, on the day, we could not find the driver. The operator asked us to look for a grey car! But since this was a public park and there were lots of cars parked there, I asked him to let the driver come to us and identify himself. The driver came and he was in a small old sedan car. This made the 3.5 hour trip very uncomfortable. The trip was to include a private tour guide, snacks and bottled water and entrance fees. None of it was prepared; when we arrived at the temple, the driver dropped us off and asked how much time we need! When I explained to the driver that there should be a guide waiting for us, he called Marawan and I spoke to him. He said, yes, don't worry, the guide is already there and waiting for you. The driver apologised and said that he had no prior knowledge as he doesn't work for the company, but his brother did and they only called him last minute to cover! The guide then called and also said that he was not aware and in fact he was at home and not onsite and would need 20 minutes to come to us and was also called last minute. He made up for it during the tour though and that's why I'm not giving it a 1 star. Thank you Hany for saving the day. Ahmed (+20 11 04829758) was our driver for the 3 1/2 hour drive each way. He knows the roads very well and was a reliable driver. He was punctual and went out of his way to make us feel safe.
