Dit is de hoogste berg van Afrika. Het is besneeuwd en 's werelds hoogste vrijstaande vulkaantoppen. De berg bestaat uit twee slapende vulkanen (Kibo 5.895 m a.m.s.l en Mawenzi 5.149 m a.m.s.l) en een uitgedoofde vulkaan (Shira 3.962 m a.m.s.l). De oorsprong van het woord is niet goed bekend, maar er wordt gezegd dat het een combinatie is van het Swahili-woord Kilima dat "Berg" betekent en het Kichagga-woord Njaro, vrij vertaald als "Witheid", wat de naam "Witte Berg" geeft. De grootte is 1.712 km2 en werd uitgeroepen tot Nationaal Park in 1973, officieel geopend voor toerisme in 1977, de Kilimanajaro-berg werd in 1987 door UNESCO aangewezen als werelderfgoed en in 2013 het natuurlijke wonder van Afrika. in de lucht is het een levenslange ervaring die niemand kan vergeten. Er zijn zeven officiële wandelroutes om de Kilimanjaro te beklimmen en af te dalen: Lemosho, Lemosho Western-Breach, Machame, Marangu, Mweka, Rongai, Shira en Umbwe

A truly incredible experience. We came for the mountain, but the 10/10 service from our guides (Moses and John Bosco) their team of porters, and the Keys Hotel elevated our experience from good to spectacular.

The staff were very welcoming , made us feel safe, especially Swai and Trizer. Frank took us on a waterfall hike which was super fun.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro has been a bucket list of mine for a long time, and thanks to the amazing people at Keys Tours & the Keys Hotel they made that dream a reality. I would highly recommend using them for anyone who is interested in experiencing the beautiful country that is Tanzania. Whether you too want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro or perhaps participate in a safari, or just see the country in general, you can’t go wrong using keys Tours. They sincerely care about the guest experience & want to ensure that each client has a wonderful vacation. My climbing guide (Collins) was extremely courteous & also very knowledgeable regarding the mountain, its history, & the surrounding vegetation & wildlife. The rest of the team was equally superb & the food was amazing. I think I may be the only person who actually gained weight climbing the mountain :) A few of my close friends also want to climb Kilimanjaro, and I am going to give them all my details so they too can stay at Keys Hotel & use Keys Tours & have a once in a lifetime experience.
