Als je dit leest, ben je waarschijnlijk geïnteresseerd in het beklimmen van de Kilimanjaro op de Machame Route. Je bevindt je in goed gezelschap. Van de zeven hoofdroutes die worden gebruikt om de Kilimanjaro te beklimmen, is de Machame-route het populairste pad. Het is voor veel mensen de favoriete route omdat het indrukwekkende uitzichten en een verscheidenheid aan leefgebieden biedt. Ongeveer 50% van alle klimmers, en de meest doorgewinterde klimmers, kiezen voor de Machame-route. Het is ook een van de goedkopere routes vanwege de gemakkelijke toegang en de kortere route. De Machame-route staat ook bekend als de Whisky-route, vanwege de reputatie dat het een zware klim is, in tegenstelling tot de gemakkelijkere Marangu-route, die bekend staat als de Coca Cola-route. We were a group of five first-time climbers and took the Machame Route up Kilimanjaro. The trek was challenging but incredibly rewarding, with stunning scenery that changed every day—from rainforest to alpine desert and finally the snowy summit. Our guide Leonard and the whole team of porters were fantastic, always supporting and encouraging us. Summit night was tough, but thanks to their guidance we all made it to Uhuru Peak together at sunrise—an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended
