Tour door het centrum van Athene gericht op de oude Atheense Academie, de plaats waar de leer en studies van de grootste filosofen van de wereld plaatsvonden. Plato en Socrates leerden vele grote waarheden voor het dagelijks leven en voor de liefde tussen mensen natuurlijk. Ze geloofden allebei dat liefde het mooiste is in het leven en op hun school ontstonden de ideeën van platonische liefde en de universele behoefte om de andere helft van elkaar te vinden. Onze gasten zullen de mogelijkheid hebben om te wandelen en te denken op dezelfde wegen en paden die Plato en Socrates stonden.

De grootste tempel in omvang en erfenis van de oude Griekse religie
Een kleine maar unieke tempel van de oude Griekse godin van overwinningen op slagvelden. Gelegen aan de rand van de Akropolis zodat de bewaker van de tempels op de beroemde rots van de stad daar ook gehuisvest kon worden. Het beeld van de godin Nike had geen vleugels, ondanks de mythen over haar die haar vleugels gaven. Deze afbeelding is op die manier gemaakt zodat deze belangrijke godin de Atheners nooit zou verlaten
Het beroemde stadion waar de oude panatheense spelen plaatsvonden ter ere van de grootste Atheense koning en held Theseus. Dit prachtige stadion was ook gastheer van de wedergeboorte van de Olympische Spelen in de moderne tijd in het jaar 1896
De beroemde residentiële wacht van de Helleense democratie, altijd gekleed in de pakken van de Griekse onafhankelijkheidsoorlog, bewaakt tegelijkertijd de president van de republiek en het monumentale graf van de onbekende soldaat, ter ere van alle heldensoldaten die voor Griekenland stierven
Hoogste punt van de stad Athene. Op de heuvelvoeten liggen de overblijfselen van de beroemde school van de grote oude filosoof Aristoteles. Op de top van de heuvel staat een zeer mooie orthodoxe kerk gewijd aan Sint-Joris
Zoals alle oude steden van Griekenland heeft Athene ook een rots die destijds de belangrijkste tempels en schatten van de stad huisvestte ter bescherming. Zo'n rotsachtig fort heette de Akropolis. De meest voortreffelijke en mooiste Akropolis is die van de stad Athene, die de grootste stad van Griekenland was en nog steeds is

Today was a wonderful tour around Athens from Piraeus to Mount Lycabettus, to the Acropolis, and even witnessed the changing of the Presidential guards. Kostas was our most excellent private guide in his luxury Mercedes Van. He picked us up at the Piraeus harbor port as we disembarked our cruise ship and we traveled around Piraeus, pausing at the Temple of Olympian Zeus. We then traveled to the highest point in Athens at the Orthodox Church on Mount Lycabettus. What spectacular views all around Athens! We then went to the Acropolis and ventured up to the Parthenon and temple of Athena Nike. So much history all around. Kostas brought us to Panathenaic stadium where ancient Olympic Games were held as well as a venue for the 2004 Olympics. We then witnessed the changing of the presidential guards and caught a glimpse of the president of Greece departing the presidential mansion. Kostas provided commentary and history as we drove all over Athens. His experience and expert driving through the tight streets was amazing. Whenever you need a driver and tour guide in Athens, Kostas is your guy!

We got to see lots of beautiful places all over Athens. Guide was very helpful and at the end brought us right to our apartment. I recommend this tour.

Kontantinos was a great guide! We traveled in style and comfort in a nice Mercedes van. Very friendly and knowledgeable of the facts on the tour. We went to tourist spots and some other spots not on the tour to see some authentic parts of Greece. Not only did we learn about the travels of Paul, but a lot about the vegetation of Greece. I had no idea about so many things that grew here (pistachios, almonds, pomegranates, lemons, etc.) We stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant with lovely views. Nothing was rushed and he allowed us to take our time with everything. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend his services. As a believer in Christ, there is a lot of Greek mythology that doesn't align with God's word, but you block it out and discern what is true. I leave you with these verses... 1 Corinthians 2:12-16 ESV [12] Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. [13] And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. [14] The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. [15] The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. [16] “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
