It can be difficult travelling alone as an older woman but from the moment I met Aashik at Colombo airport all my worries faded away. On the way to my hotel in Negombo he stopped and bought and paid for a SIM card for me and changed my currency. I spent the next 3 days in his and Althaf’s company…they helped me to climb Pidurangala which I couldn’t have done without than. Aalshif arranged the most amazing jeep safari with the best guide in Minneriya National Park. We saw elephants from one month old to full adult. These boys have treated me like royalty and I will always treasure the memories.

Kingfisher were very good in adapting their tour to meet our needs, changing locations, schedules and the order of seeing things to suit our requirements. They also allowed us to choose between proposed hotels. The vehicle was good, and our driver knew exactly where he was going and got us everywhere absolutely on schedule. We saw wonderful things, including several of the must-do attractions of visiting Sri Lanka, but also extras such as a cooking demonstration in a village which for me was one of the highlights. My own reservation is that our driver was just a driver not a guide, although very good local guides were arranged in a couple of places.
