Begeleid door ervaren instructeurs op ons speciaal ontworpen First 22-jacht duik je in essentiële zeiltechnieken, van het beheersen van de kunst van het trimmen van zeilen tot de basisprincipes van sturen en navigeren. Deze cursus legt de nadruk op veiligheid, voorbereiding en hands-on deelname, waardoor u actief kunt deelnemen aan het hijsen en laten zakken van zeilen, sturen en zelfs aanmeren. Het is de perfecte gelegenheid om de vrijheid van het open water te proeven, waardevolle vaardigheden te leren en te genieten van de kameraadschap van het zeilen, allemaal binnen een veilige en ondersteunende omgeving. We had a great sail on a 22' Beneteau. The captain was knowledgeable and comfortable to be with. Our only critique is that the section of lifeline where we board the craft should be detachable so as to provide easier access when boarding as the dock and vessel both float and move with waves.
Please understand what you’re booking to make sure this is what you want. The description of the activity said “ Enjoy a relaxing three-hour yacht cruise around Toronto’s islands in Lake Ontario, admiring the city views along the way. You can choose to sit back and relax on the beanbags on deck, or to take the helm and have a go at steering the yacht yourself.” This is not accurate. There were five of us wedged hip to hip on the benches. There are no bean bags on deck. You will be helping sail or at the very least regularly moving to avoid getting hit with the boom and to balance the weight of the boat. It was a windy day and one passenger was throwing up over the side of the boat. The skipper was shouting at the poor woman trying to steer while he brought the sail back in and she was almost in tears. He kept using sailing terminology she didn’t understand. If you’re trying to learn to sail this may be for you but if you want a relaxing harbor cruise, this isn’t it. I was so glad when it was over.
We had a lovely time, the captain Howe was fun and he was sharing interesting facts about what we were seeing as well as what the wine and cheeses we were tasting . Emily made beautiful food trays presentations. The extra fun was to sit on the bean bags at the front of the boat to enjoy the view .

What a great experience! Captain gave good coaching and made everyone comfortable. I’ve sailed my hobie wave a lot but felt somewhat intimidated by “real”sailing on a larger boat. It was a great environment to gain confidence with spectacular views.
This has become an annual tradition which I gift to my adult children every summer We have done this for over 10 years. For tourists I'd say it's a wonderful way to see our beautiful harbour skyline and Toronto Island, Since we live inToronto, we enjoy the ambiance of being on a beautiful boat, relaxing, and hanging out together! Our sail was smooth and enjoyable and we felt we were in great hands with Howie!

I did a solo Discover Sailing 3hr Introductory Sail lesson with Capt Howie, as I'm interested in learning to sail and wanted to get my feet wet before committing to a longer course. Overall I had a great time and strongly recommend Gone Sailing: capt was incredibly knowledgeable about sailing and very patient to answer all sorts of questions; the harbor was calm and had nice views of the city; and 3 hours is a good amount of time for a discover sailing class. During the class I alternated between manning the steering or the sail, and got to learn by following capt's instructions and asking a ton of questions. The one caveat is that I sorta assumed the outing to be a bit more active and have more of a class feel to it (like, "get us on course to that direction", "position the sail to get/less speed") and didn't think to bring it up explicitly. Capt Howie was a great teacher and I'm sure he'd have adjusted the outing, so a tip if if to be clear about expectations. Once again, strongly recommend and very likely to come back.
Had an amazing morning on the water with Captain Rob and crew member Aiden! Everything was top notch. What could be better than the lake, sun, breeze, great music and even better company. Even got to see some air show rehearsals! Can’t wait to do it again soon!! Would highly recommend!!
Our hosts were tremendous conversationalists and charted a route around the Bay that was both beautiful and informative. Service was attentive but not overly so, allowing to chill and settle in for the entire cruise. It was a wonderful 3 hours. Well worth it and the highlight of our time in Toronto.
