In het huis van Javier en Paula — de lokale bevolking en natuurvertellers — geniet je van een reis van 3 tot 4 uur door 34 traditionele Argentijnse smaken, waarbij je alles proeft, van gegrild vlees en handgemaakte empanada's tot boetiek Malbecs en romige dulce de leche desserts. Terwijl je rond hun familietafel verzamelt, vloeien verhalen net zo gemakkelijk als de wijn. Je hoort over zondagse asado’s, buurtcafés en de rituelen die van eten de hartslag van Argentinië maken. Dit is geen restaurantproeverij; het is een gezellige, lachende avond die aanvoelt als welkom geheten worden door oude vrienden. Je vertrekt met een vol hart, nieuwe vrienden en foto’s die een onvergetelijke avond vastleggen, het soort dat je nog lang bijblijft na de laatste slok wijn. Javier and Paola open their home to their guests and create an unforgettable evening of story, food, and drink. The evening begins with a glass of beautiful Argentina wine and an introduction from Javier. From there we go to the island in the kitchen and sample a generous charcuterie board with many other tastes unlike anything you have tasted elsewhere. As Americans we were not familiar with vermouth and sparkling water with a large slice of orange. What a refreshing drink! Then wine and then Frenet and Coke, an acquired taste, I think but one I have been curious about. With a glass of delicious Torrentés we moved to the dining room table. We actually should have moved outdoors for a run, though I think I would have had to be rolled down the street. The meal that followed with empanadas, tomatoe salad, roasted potatoes, steak and more was all prepared to perfection. The desert of flan was made with orange zest which added a very nice zing to it. I was so busy enjoying it I forgot to take a photo. Our hosts are simply incredible. This amazing pair were able to entertain and include both a quite young couple and a quite old couple seamlessly. This is an experience you should not miss when in Mendoza.

The family was lovely and welcomed us into their home with open arms. They made us feel right at home and taught us traditional artisan cooking. The family, Paula and Javier, worked together and included hands on cooking for my whole family with smiles on their faces, and they spoke English. They played music and explained how they were cooking the food so we could learn. They were a beautiful family and I truly recommend their cooking class!

An absolutely amazing experience! Javier and Paula were amazing hosts who not only delivered us an amazing meal but made the experience so fun, made us feel at home, and delivered us a true Argentinian dish. Plenty to eat, plenty to drink, and incredible company. This is a MUST do in Mendoza!

Thank you for the great evening at the house of Javier and Paula. We came as guests and left as friends. In between were three nice hours with fantastic food, good conversations and family connection. We recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn more about Argentine friendship and cuisine.

An unforgettable experience in Mendoza. Javier made us feel at home and we enjoyed some traditional Argentinian recipes with the best wine and some other drinks. The thing we liked the most about was the relaxed atmosphere where everyone could feel comfortable and lots of interesting and fun conversations happened. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an authentic food and people experience in Mendoza.
