Het is een beroemde toeristische bestemming in de provincie Hunan, die in 1992 officieel werd erkend als UNESCO-werelderfgoed. De pilaarachtige formatie die door het park te zien is, is het resultaat van vele jaren van erosie. Met een bosbedekking van meer dan 90% omvat het natuurgebied Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie, Jinbian Stream en Wulongzhai. De minderheidscultuur en folklore zijn vertegenwoordigd in nabijgelegen dorpen en steden, bewoond door Tujia-, Bai-, Miao- en Hui-mensen, wat waardevolle uitstapjes maakt.
Het is de hoogste en snelste sightseeinglift ter wereld en biedt een spectaculair uitzicht op het zandstenen piekbos. Het heeft een hoogte van 326 meter en kan 3.000 mensen per uur vervoeren in de drie transparante liften. Het duurt slechts 88 seconden om naar de top van de berg te reizen.
Yuanjiajie ligt in de noordelijke hoek van Zhangjiajie National Park. Dit gebied, gekenmerkt door torenhoge zandstenen pilaren gevormd over miljoenen jaren van erosie, is beroemd en populair om zijn Hallelujah berg, vernoemd naar Avatar's drijvende rotsen. De populairste attracties zijn: Avatar Hallelujah Berg, eerste brug onder de hemel en ga zo maar door.
Het staat bekend om vier natuurlijke spektakels: de mistwolken die de toppen van de berg omcirkelen, het geweldige uitzicht op de rijzende zon, de maanverlichte nachten en de met sneeuw bedekte wintertoppen. Ze omvatten meer dan 80 natuurlijke platforms om van het prachtige landschap te genieten. Neem de kabel naar de Tianzi-berg om te genieten van het uitzicht en te ontspannen.
De langste en hoogste glazen brug ter wereld bevindt zich ook in dit schilderachtige gebied. Lopen op de brug met glazen bodem die 300 meter boven de grond ligt, zal de coolste ervaring van je tour zijn!

My Zhangjiajie avatar mountain and glass bridge was great ! We had an awesome guide tour here name is Lillian . Even though our flight got delayed she gave us excellent service she waited for us checked on our flight delay and pick us up and dropped us off from airport she managed to still help us complete our tour she is very nice ! Overall great experience , incredible sightseeing view !

You could do this by yourself but why take the stress? It's a maze of queues, buses, cable car, lift, etc. Buses have multiple stops so you have to know where to alight. It's tickets and passports and face scanning. The glass bridge area is about 45m from the Avatar area and has separate admission, etc. BTW Tianmen mt is not on this tour. We thought it was well worth the price to have a guide. We got lucky w Amy who is the best guide we have had in many countries and many tours. She is friendly, funny and knows exactly where to go. The process was stress free.

Arianna was an excellent guide. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and allowed us to select specific activities that enhanced our tour (e.g. zipline, slide, and ferreta/cliff climbing). Tip for the slide - remove your shoes if wearing socks. Otherwise your rubber soles will slow you down significantly. The national park is spectacular. Lots of steps, shuttle rides on curvy roads, photo opportunities and snack options. Public restrooms are plentiful.

The tour was amazing from start to finish. A really nice car, there was so much to do in the tour and the guide Lillian was just exceptional. She was intelligent, multilingual, so well organised and she was kind and warm and attentive. She really made sure that we had a fun amazing experience and her descriptions and knowledge of the tour spots were perfect. Honestly probably the best organised tour I’ve ever been on. We had good viewing weather despite rain and the landscape (Avatar inspiration scenery!) is unbelievable and the elevator, glass bridge, cable car etc. are all exceptional.
