Bekend als "het beste kasteel aan de Nankaido (weg)", is een symbool van Kochi City. Momenteel zijn er slechts 12 kastelen uit de pre-Edo-periode in Japan, maar Kochi Castle is een van de meest waardevolle kastelen. De huidige hoofdtoren werd herbouwd in augustus 1747. Het grootste kenmerk van Kochi Castle is dat het geheel samenhangt met de hoofdgebouwgroep, met de Tenshu, Goten en Corridor-brug, die allemaal volledig aanwezig zijn, samen met de stenen muur enzovoort. Het prieel op de bovenste verdieping van de kasteeltoren kijkt uit over de stad Kochi.
Grote hal met eetkraampjes van ongeveer 40 verschillende restaurants, souvenirwinkels en andere winkels. Misschien zult u genieten van enkele van de beroemde "Katsuo Tataki", die aangebraden bonito-vis is. Het is aan te raden om zout en gesneden knoflook erop te zetten voor het proeven. Geniet van de lokale voedingsmiddelen die uniek zijn voor Kochi.
De Makino Botanische Tuin, gelegen op de top van Godaiyama, Kochi, werd in 1958 geopend om de prestaties te eren van Dr. Tomitaro Makino, de 'vader van de Japanse plantentaxonomie' uit de prefectuur Kochi. Ongeveer 3.000 hectare, inclusief wilde planten gerelateerd aan de dokter, kleuren de vier seizoenen in de ongeveer 6 hectare van de tuin, waardoor het een van de toonaangevende geïntegreerde botanische tuinen van Japan is, waar je de vreugde voelt om planten in de natuur te ontmoeten.
Groeide enorm door de toewijding van de Tosa heer, en monnik discipelen verzamelden zich en werden het centrum van de Tosa-cultuur als een onderzoekstempel. Veel werken van groot belang zijn hier vandaan gekomen en er is een "geheime" Boeddha die slechts eenmaal in de 50 jaar aan het publiek getoond wordt. Verder is de vijf verdiepingen tellende pagode die in het district is gebouwd de enige in de prefectuur Kochi, en de toren bevat stoepa's gevraagd door Bodh Gaya, India.

Kochi haven is niet in de buurt van het centrum van Kochi stad, dus als je de cruise gast bent, ontmoeten we elkaar bij Harimayabashi Tourist Bus Terminal, het is een shuttle bushalte van Kochi haven. U kunt gemakkelijk bereiken met de shuttlebus.

We had a wonderful day exploring Kochi with Miyo! She was kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and very understanding throughout the tour. A wonderful day with Kumiko!! Our group of 7 with 3 teens had a FANTASTIC time. From the moment she saw us at the bus stop she was waiting with excitement! She did a wonderful job showing us Kochi and helping us feel the joy of her home! She sang for us. Danced with us. Showed us so many wonderful things. She nicely navigated the bus and the transportation for us. We enjoyed the experience. We rarely waited. We loved the gardens and she showed and taught us so much there. It was absolutely stunning the flowers and the shrine. She took great pictures for us and really had fun teaching us. We then went to the market where we ate at a wonderful restaurant she set up reservations and pre ordered for us so we didn’t have to wait. The food was delicious and a great Japanese experience. She gifted us so lovely kind gifts. We then went to the castle with her and she took us up and through there as well. She helped us get a taxi straight back to our ship! Mitsue was a great guide. She is from Kochi and you could feel her love for the city. We had an incredible lunch at a local restaurant and enjoyed the botanical gardens. We went to Kochi castle to finish the tour. She was kind and sweet. She took many pictures for us and then sent them to us via email. She captured our special moments. She even brought Japanese fans as a gift to my husband and I.

Our guide, Kayko, met us at the bus stop as planned and then led us on a memorable day of sightseeing. Kayko was one of the best, if not the best guides we’ve ever had. She was kind, friendly and very knowledgeable. Kayko was just as interested in our culture as we were with hers. Our schedule was a bit shortened unexpectedly and Kayko was accommodating and gave us options of places to see in the time we had. She also arranged for a delicious lunch. The botanical garden is a must see, and the Kochi Castle was fascinating, albeit a challenge to climb. It is not for the faint of heart. Despite the rainy weather, Kayko managed to make the day bright and memorable. Count your blessings of you get Kayko as your guide.
