Saigon als stad wordt nog steeds vaak aangeduid als de grootste stad van Vietnam. Het is een snelle stad vol contrasten als straatverkopers die groenten en fruit verkopen kan worden gezien naast glinsterende westerse stijl bars en boetieks. De geschiedenis van Saigon is slechts 300 jaar oud. In 1859 werd de stad veroverd door de Frans en werd de hoofdstad van Indochina. Van 1956 tot de dramatische ondergang in april 1975 was het de hoofdstad van de door de VS gesteunde Republiek Vietnam. Deze VOLLEDIGE dag stadstour ontrafelt het turbulente verleden van Saigon en biedt ook een kijkje in de fascinerende verscheidenheid die de stad te bieden heeft.
Ervaar het erfgoed van Sài Gòn vanuit het unieke uitkijkpunt van een traditionele cyclo. Bình Tây is een groothandelsmarkt, een van de grootste markten in Hồ Chí Minh stad.
We bezoeken de volgende bezienswaardigheden in de ochtend: The Reunification Palace: hier op 30 april 1975 eindigde de Vietnam-oorlog officieel toen tanknummer 843 van het Noord-Vietnamese leger door de poorten van wat destijds de residentie van de president van de Republiek Vietnam was, neerstortte.
War Remnants Museum: voorheen bekend als het Museum of American War Crimes, dit is een schrijnende weergave van de zinloosheid van oorlog. Een deel van de zwart-witfotografie in de tentoonstelling 'Requiem' is bijzonder ontroerend, toegewijd aan zowel buitenlandse als Vietnamese journalisten en fotografen die tijdens het conflict zijn omgekomen. De binnenplaats bevat de buit van oorlog, namelijk roestende stralen, tanks en kanonnen die zijn buitgemaakt op de Amerikaanse militaire machine.
The Old Post Office is een ander voorbeeld van Franse koloniale architectuur en is ook het grootste postkantoor van het land.
Jade Emperor Pagoda: gebouwd in 1909 ter ere van de allerhoogste taoïstische god, dit is een van de meest spectaculair atmosferische tempels in HCMC, gevuld met beelden van fantasmische godheden en groteske helden. De doordringende rook van wierook vult de lucht en verdoezelt het prachtige houtsnijwerk.

Had a great afternoon with Stark and our driver in our OG American Jeep . Rolling in style round the streets of Saigon chilled water and beer on hand if needed . We Visited The Jaded Pagoda which you could easily pass by if you didn’t know it was there ,Saigon PO ,the Notre Dame cathedral, The Grand Palace ,The War Remnants Museum and as the tour is tailored to “US “ the Russian market. Stark was very knowledgeable and amusing and tailored the tour to our needs . We would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone. 100% 5*

We had a morning city tour and afternoon cyclo tour. Turned out we were the only two on the cyclo tour, so a personal experience! Camellia was a lovely, friendly guide who took the time to explain every area we went to. Highly recommend the whole tour. Viet who too us on the group minibus tour in the morning was also awesome and very informative and friendly. A must do for near the start of your trip. The cyclo in particular is an eye opener for Saigon daily life and traffic!! A bit hairy in parts but great fun!

Absolutely fantastic experience. The two temples and the cyclone and the warm museum were very very interesting. My two guide Luan was incredible. He was so professional and excellent at his job. I was feeling a bit unwell, but he really looked upcoming and such a professional and kind man. I would really recommend Asiana link travel for all your needs. The price was also very competitive. In fact I think for the amount of stuff that they do and the good air-conditioned vehicles, it was pretty reasonable.

We were picked up promptly this morning by our guide for today, Manh. We were whisked around the city expertly by our driver, all the while being given valuable information by Manh. He spoke perfect English and we enjoyed his company immensely. We loved visiting the Saigon Post Office, the War Remnants Museum, a market, the Independence Palace and other tourist attractions. We did a private tour with Anthony and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and proud of this beautiful city, as well as taking lots of photos for us, and making sure we were comfortable the whole time. The tour took us through major attractions in HCMC, and some we would never have found on our own. Lunch was a lovely 5 course meal at a local restaurant serving traditional food. The “Thousand Buddha” pagoda was the highlight for me, as well as the Cyclo ride. A great way to see the city when you have a short period of time.
