We laten de stad achter ons en gaan naar het magische Sun Moon Lake, consequent beoordeeld als een van de mooiste plekjes in Azië. De rit naar Sun Moon Lake duurt, afhankelijk van het verkeer, ongeveer 1 tot 1,5 uur. Bij aankomst geniet je eerst van de schoonheid van het grootste meer van Taiwan terwijl je geniet van een ontspannen fietstocht van 60 minuten langs een pad dat is bekroond als een van de tien adembenemende fietsroutes van CNN. De volgende op de lijst is een welverdiende lunch in Taiwanese stijl (niet inbegrepen in de prijsopgave) voordat u aan boord van de veerboot van het meer gaat en de wateren van het meer en de omliggende bergen bewondert. De veerbootervaring wordt gevolgd door een torenhoge rit in een kabelbaan met een schilderachtig panoramisch uitzicht van 360 graden over Sun Moon Lake. De Sun Moon Lake Ropeway verbindt Ita Thao met de Formosan Aboriginal Cultuurdorp. Het duurt ongeveer tien minuten per enkele reis en legt een afstand af van ongeveer 1.877 meter (6.158 ft). Na Ropeway Ride bezoekt u de Wenwu-tempel. De majestueuze tempel ligt op een berghelling, ten noorden van Sun Moon Lake, en werd gebouwd volgens het landschap. Wenwu Temple staat bekend als de grootste tempel in het gebied. De laatste stop is het commerciële district van Yidashao. Tijdens een bezoek van 40 minuten kom je meer te weten over de Taiwanese en Taiwanese inheemse cultuur en kun je een aantal mooie traditionele kunst en ambachten. De tour eindigt hier, je gids brengt je terug naar Taichung.

We spent the whole day at the Sun Moon Lake. We rode the cable car ride and took the ferry to other piers. It was great! We really enjoyed it and our tour guide, AXL, offer many locations to visit to make sure that we make the most of our time at the Sun Moon Lake.
We took a Sun Moon Lake tour with our excellent guide Dustin, who shared fascinating history and local insights that made the experience more meaningful. Though the day was foggy and drizzly, it added a peaceful, atmospheric feel to the lake. We visited the Xuanzang Temple, explored scenic trails, and took a boat ride to various piers. Highlights included a beautiful pagoda once visited by Chiang Kai-shek and lunch at Mao Family Restaurant, featuring flavorful Tsou tribal cuisine. Dustin’s pacing, knowledge, and attentiveness made this a truly memorable outing. I highly recommend this tour!
The trip arrangement is beyond considerate. Wonderful and excellent. We tasted the delicious local food. The scenery places are all visited with guide’s detailed explanation of history.
Dustin is a great guide. We visited the temple, the pagoda and of cos, the lake. It was drizzling so it was hazy. Couldn't get much of the view. Dustin brought us to a place for a nice (and not expensive) lunch. The "little town" at Sun Moon Lake is interesting. Make sure to set aside time to explore the place.
Honda was an excellent guide. Picked us up from our hotel on time. He asked about our interests and preferences and then curated the day’s activities accordingly. Sun Moon Lake was a delightful experience especially when sampled on foot, by bike (standard and electric available), ferry and cable car. Honda used recordings of activities to augment specific points of cultural significance as well as share information about street market food options and cold black tea! We even had an opportunity for a photograph with indigenous musicians. Our appreciation for Taiwan’s commitment to respecting the island’s environment and nature’s balance increased as well. We were also impressed with Honda’s readiness for any issues that may get dampened the trip’s experience such as rain (he had ponchos), heat (he had water) or communication (command of English and use of What’s App to track our pick-up location during periods of free time were appreciated. Excellent day trip from Taichung! Note - per the itinerary details you will pay your way to ride bike-ferry-cable car so make sure you have Taiwan currency ($900-$1200 TWD) for these activities and street food for lunch. There were also shopping options which we did not pursue as our interests lied elsewhere. Highly recommend and I would do it against n with the same guide!!
Most tourists go for the boat ride around the lake with a short visit to a temple. It would be more interesting to take the bus that goes around the lake and visit the majestic Wenwu Temple, or cycle around the lake, or do one of the walking trails in order to appreciate the breathtaking scenery.
