Fietsen bij Angkor Wat is uniek omdat het een intiemere, milieuvriendelijkere en flexibelere manier biedt om het tempelcomplex te verkennen, waardoor een nauwere verbinding met de natuur en geschiedenis wordt geboden en drukte wordt vermeden via speciale, veilige fietspaden. De ervaring combineert de vrijheid van persoonlijke verkenning met een meer serene en duurzame manier om de bezienswaardigheden te zien in vergelijking met grote tourgroepen of voertuigen. Veel tempels gaan verloren in de jungle en je ziet ook de backroad van Angkor.

Startpunt: vertrek vanuit het hotel We vertrekken om 7.30 uur vanuit uw hotel. Deze fietstocht is ontspannen en we zullen samen plezier hebben. Je zult het echte leven zien van mensen die in dit landelijke gebied wonen, en je kunt ook de jungle, dieren en vogels zien.
PRASAT ANGKOR WAT is de grootste en beroemdste Khmer-tempel, gebouwd in de 12e eeuw, tussen 1113 -1150, tijdens het bewind van Suryavarman II. De tempel is 65 meter hoog en wordt omringd door een grote gracht [Ko Tek]. De buiten- en binnenmuren zijn bedekt met verbazingwekkende bas-reliëfs.
PRASAT BAYON of ANGKOR THOM is een tempel in boeddhistische stijl gebouwd in de late 12e / vroege 13e eeuw door Jayavarnam VII. Bayon heeft 54 torens die de 54 provincies voor en tijdens het Khmer-rijk vertegenwoordigen. Er zijn meer dan 200 lachende gezichten uitgehouwen op de 54 torens. Bayon was een bloeiende hoofdstad, maar werd helaas in 1811 beschadigd door Cham-indringers.
Chau Say Tevoda is een tempel in Angkor, Cambodja. Het ligt net ten oosten van Angkor Thom, direct ten zuiden van Thommanon aan de overkant van de Victory Way. Gebouwd in het midden van de 12e eeuw, is het een hindoetempel in de Angkor Wat-periode. Het is opgedragen aan Shiva en Vishnu met unieke soorten vrouwelijke sculpturen van devata's erin verankerd.
PRASAT TA PROMH, gebouwd aan het einde van de 12e eeuw door Jayavarman VII, werd in 1186 opgedragen aan zijn moeder. Oorspronkelijk had deze tempel een boeddhistische achtergrond, maar werd later omgebouwd tot hindoe, dus sommige boeddhistische galerijen werden vernietigd en vervangen door hindoeïstische symbolen zoals Yoni en Lingam. De locatie is 1,5 km van Bayon via de Victory Gate. Ta Promh staat bekend om de bomen ("Spung" genoemd) die sterk omhoog groeien, op en over de muren van zandsteenblokken.
Ta Nei is een laat-12e-eeuwse stenen tempel in Angkor, Cambodja. Gebouwd tijdens de regering van koning Jayavarman VII, is het in de buurt van de noordwestelijke hoek van de East Baray, een groot heilig reservoir. Het was gewijd aan de Boeddha.
East (Death) Gate is een van de vijf poorten die de oude stad Angkor Thom bewaakt. Het werd gebouwd door koning Jayavarman VII in de late 12e eeuw als onderdeel van de wederopbouw van de stad, na de overwinning op het vijandelijke leger van Cham in 1181 AD. Hoewel geleerden het oneens zijn over de symboliek van de prachtige vijf poorten die de stad bewaken, is de meest wijdverspreide theorie dat de goden en demonen die het lichaam van de naga vasthouden de mythe van de schepping vertegenwoordigen zoals weergegeven in het "Krijsen van de Oceaanmelk", het beroemde reliëf in Angkor Wat.

I highly recommend this experience!! Riding bikes around Angkor Wat with Mr. K was really informative and lots of fun. The trails were easy and made for a much more immersive experience than if we were riding in a van. Mr. K tailored the trip to our needs and we spent the time we wanted at each temple. He took us to a nice spot for lunch and we ended the day with a wonderful cold beverage. This cycle tour was a highlight of our trip!!

My partner and I were really glad to have stretched our legs a bit on a biking tour - - it helped to break up the day of walking through temples and get us to some of the spots we might not have made it to otherwise. My husband and I had the most wonderful cycling tour of some of the smaller more unknown temples in the Angkor Wat complex. We felt very safe with good helmets and were led by our great guide ‘K’. We cycled through well paved trails through a jungle environment in lovely heat. If we needed to rest we could and the short sections on the road were not difficult. We were able to access some beautiful smaller temples that we would not have seen otherwise. A truly unique way to travel around the beauty of Angkor Wat. I would highly recommend this tour.
