Yellowknife : Aurora Chasing + Aurora Lodge

This was the worst experience I have ever had on a tour. First of all, at the start of the tour, we waited in our hotel lobby for almost an hour. In the end, the guide had to pick us up in their private car and drive us to join the tour. I assume the bus driver had accidentally skipped the pickup at our hotel. The bus itself also had no visible company name or signage, so it would have been very difficult to know which bus we were supposed to take unless someone approached us directly. Overall, there seemed to be a serious lack of communication and coordination, and the attitude and service of both the guide and the driver made us feel uncomfortable and distrustful. The conditions at the Madeline Lake cabin were also very poor. It was not clean and had an unpleasant smell. We had expected to have a warm place to stay while waiting, but the heating was never turned on, and we were cold throughout the entire time we were there. Unfortunately, we were unable to see the northern lights that night. The guide kindly tried to help by taking us to several different viewing spots, which we appreciated. However, this extended the tour significantly beyond the scheduled ending time, and as a result, we barely made it in time for our flight home. As a local tour operator, I believe the company should be familiar with the general flight schedules from Yellowknife and should confirm whether any guests have flights to catch after the tour, especially when extending the tour well beyond the scheduled time. We booked this experience as part of our honeymoon, and unfortunately, it turned what should have been the final highlight of our trip into a terrible memory. It was an extremely disappointing way to end our honeymoon.

Very complete experience discovering the Cameron Falls, Sai was a great guide and was happy to answer our questions. Hiking was not to hard and the view is totally worth it.

We arrived in Yellowknife yesterday, and this aurora tour made it an unforgettable first night! Our guide Mo first took us to a parking lot where we could already spot a faint aurora glow — a great start. As more people gathered there, Mo suggested moving to a cozy log cabin spot instead, where the aurora was much more vivid and the sky was clearer. Best of all, it felt private — we were the only group there, with no crowds to compete with for a good view. Mo was fantastic throughout, patiently helping us find the best angles and taking tons of beautiful photos for us. Highly recommend this tour for anyone hoping to catch the northern lights in Yellowknife!

We ended up not going to the Aurora Lodge because it was cloudy on that side of town. Mo, our guide, he ended up taking us quite a distance in the direction of Cameron Falls. It was still cloudy for quite a while, but while many of us sat in the bus waiting for the clouds to disperse, Mo was out there diligently watching for auroras! We did see some northern lights and Mo was very helpful by taking our picture and later sharing them with us. It was a great adventure.!

After 3 hours of chasing the aurora, we finally saw it, though it wasn't as big as we'd hoped. We were lucky it was cloudy. And our guide Mo took pictures for us. Great guy.

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE. It was just my mother and I doing the tour, and it was raining, but Mo (our guide) was EXCEPTIONAL. He drove us at least 80 km plus in a private vehicle trying his best to scope locations for us to view Aurora in a cloudy, rainy night. Moreover, Leon (another of the managers) also ensured our hospitality. Overall, the experience was incredible. Thank you, team!

We had such an amazing aurora tour yesterday! Our guide and photographer, Mo, was super friendly, professional, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Before heading to the lakeside house, we stopped at another beautiful lake, which was a lovely bonus. The view behind the lakeside house was absolutely stunning, and we were even able to see the aurora right from the balcony! The staff were also incredibly helpful and accommodating when we needed to reschedule our trip, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful and unforgettable experience.

Everything went smoothly. We were lucky to have a clear night. We had good views of the Aurora, our guide took great pictures and shared them with us, and we used the cabin to warm up when needed.
