Wroclaw To Stalag Luft Tour - The Great Escape Tour

Descrizione

A group of 6 of us went on this Stalag Luft 3 tour from Wroclaw on 17th May 2026. The group included myself and my three brothers, wanting to see where our father, Philip Wesley Ratcliff had been a pow. Michal was a fount of fascinating information. Astounding really. We didn’t know what to expect but the whole tour was first class, including a short video, relevant books - one with a reference to our dad but we think the information was not correct. The museum was brilliant but we needed even more hours to study everything there. We were taken to the start of tunnel Harry and also to see the end of the tunnel - very close to a watchtower. And the reconstruction of a hut albeit smaller than original gave us a good idea of how dad lived there with all the other kriegies . I 100% recommend this tour
I was the only person on the tour so it moved at my pace not a group pace, the tour guide was great pointing out the items in the city on the way out and on the way to the camp. Got to see the museum and reconstructed barracks, the original camp site, the Harry tunnel, and the train station. Had a great time and would recommend this tour and this tour company.
Michal was great. Looked after my father and I well and gave us plenty of historical facts on the surrounding areas.
We got picked up at our hotel by michal. Who drove us to stalag luft 3 and took care of everything. He made the day easy for us and his driving was very professional and a really nice guy. The visit to the three locations was awesome. Really puts it to perspective what they did. If you want to buy any souvenirs best take cash. I would highly recommend going to stalag luft 3.
Our guide Michael was excellent. Extremely knowledgable and helpful with facts, history and general information. The site is well kept and it was uplifting to see the history and the courage of the POW’s honoured in what were incredible stories ( the wooden horse escape also took place here).
Overall very good !! Great to see the history… I would say only that the trip said water was included and we were not offered any but other than that a great trip and Damian gave us lots of history about Wroclaw which was great.
Driver, Mikhail F., on time, lovely car, excellent driver, friendly, thoughtful. Small camp museum provides a lot of information, the re-created tunnel is illuminating, and the barracks provide more info and perspective (e.g., return visits by former POWs). Also learned about Zagan’s role re: German military training and other POW camps.
The museum is very good and has loads of original artifacts, which were very poignant. There was also a replica hut and tunnel, but there’s not much more to see. We did see the location of tunnel Harry but felt the actual site of the original huts could have been better preserved and better presented as a war memorial. Would benefit from having a guide on site to bring the story to life.
Stalag Luft 3 visit was excellent, with great insights from our guide for the whole trip! Amazing to go through a tunnel and experience the history. Highly recommend! Marc was exceptional in his service, driving and knowledge.
Great tour for WW2 history buffs and those interested or with a connection to The Great Escape. The visit to the museum with its replicas and memorabilia is very interesting but I recommend you arrange a tour with one of the volunteers. I was unable to do so and let with a few unanswered questions. A short drive away is the original site of the Stalag Luft 111. Although only ruins and foundations remain, it is worth the short trip to get an idea of the size of the barracks and, particularly as the route of the tunnel, Harry, has been marked upon the surface in concrete and gives an amazing insight into the ingenuity and courage the soldiers exhibited. Also note that the museum is approximately 2 hours drive from Wroclaw so be ready for a few hours in the car. Fortunately, it is a pleasant drive and my driver, Gregory, was great company, and kept me informed of any interesting landmarks etc. as well as chatting about our mutual love of sport and travel. Thanks Gregory.
