We had an incredible time. I would give them a 10 out of 10
Bring a warm layer. Be ready for potential choppy seas. Had a great time overall. Staff was great m, fun and knowledgeable. Got to see a ton of aquatic life. Boat might feel a little crowded
Chasing whales is never guaranteed - but our experienced captain and first mate (Kai, the whale spotter) yielded at least four whales and 10 sea lions on our voyage. Check-in was easy - motion sickness pills supplied for free (i had some) - the tour departed on time. Once onboard, a "safety speech" was given and we were off. You have the choice of sitting on deck in the open air, or within a glassed-in cabin (which I chose, as I am always cold). The windows in the cabin are HUGE, so you can see as well within as outside. We traveled at least 45 minutes before siting our first whales - 2-3 of them, casually feeding and showing their tails. After about 10 minutes a pod of about 6-8 sea lions appeared, frolicing in the ocean very near the boat. We followed the whales for about 40 minutes; there were between 3-6 and they surfaced very near the boat, for a "good see". During the interim, Kai informed us about the differences in whales (these were humpbacks), their routines and answering questions. This was a more personal experience than I would have expected, and we very much enjoyed it. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Central Coast.
BUCKET LIST EXPERIENCE! If you want to whale watch, definitely book with Lost Isle. All of the staff was super friendly. Our guide Gunner made sure everyone was okay and got to see the whales. It was a bucket list to see whales breaching along with sea lions and dolphins. 100/10 ⭐️
Boat crew were great! Obviously, need nature to play along, but it’s a very nice tour. Make sure to pack warm clothes (and gloves) as it can get quite cold out on the water.
Our experience was amazing! We saw approx 50 whales. They were feeding, playing and splashing around! Our guide Kai was amazing as well. He was so informative and just as excited as we were when we would see the whales. Highly recommended!!!
Great experience we saw a ton of humpback whales. The water was a little rough so if you have issues with sea sickness plan ahead!
We went on the whale watching tour with Marcello the deck hand and Captain Beau, who both made the trip awesome. Great information regarding the whales and the habitat, and we were fortunate to spend a lot of time with a big group that were feeding right near the boat. It was a really nice experience from start to finish. I would recommend these folks in a hot minute, it was time well spent and worth every penny.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!! Check in went smoothly and the boat crew was knowledgeable and super fun. Kai had a wealth of information and was so sweet and helpful to the kids on board. We saw more whales and seals than we ever imagined we would. At one point it felt like we were surrounded by them. We will definitely be booking whale watching experiences again in the future.
There is an extra $5 fee when you get there that Trip advisor didn't charge. There were twice as many people as seating so if you didn't get a seat you had to stand for 3 hours. We saw no whales but did see a sunfish. The company isn't responsible for that. Wildlife doesn't always cooperate. But the small boat meant you felt the choppy water and easily felt seasick and had to stand the whole time to boot.
Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad you were able to see a sunfish and other marine wildlife during your trip. Whales are wild animals, and while our crew works hard to locate them on every excursion, sightings can never be guaranteed. We appreciate you spending part of your day on the water with us and wish you safe travels.
