Once we found the theater and seated we got a glimpse into the extraordinary career of an American icon. A couple songs and a couple stories along with videos of a bygone era really came together well. I am a 59 year old guy and found it very nostalgic and enjoyable, me and my siblings talked about the show all the way back to Harrahs. Go see the show and see for yourself. And THANK YOU Wayne Newton for sharing.
This musical show and memoir was far superior to what I had expected. I anticipated excellent music but I really enjoyed the musical history component. What a thrill to be taken on this musical journey with the man himself!! He left me smiling for days afterward. I felt entertained, educated, and appreciated as a fan. So thankful to have attended and I highly recommend going to this show if you love music, music history, and some Las Vegas lore as well.
Amazing show!!! It's like watching a real life documentary of when Wayne Newton started in Vegas and how he got famous.
Wayne was very entertaining. We loved his show and would definitely see him again.
We thought Wayne Newton’s show was great. We learned so much about his extensive life experiences and we found it to be very entertaining!!
I recently had the joy of seeing Wayne Newton’s “Up Close and Personal” show at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, and it was an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life. I first saw Wayne perform back in 1965, when he was just 23 years old. Now, 61 years later, at 79, I can still remember that original show as if it were yesterday. Seeing him again all these years later was incredibly meaningful. The performance was everything you could hope for—entertaining, nostalgic, heartfelt, and genuinely fun. His musical talent remains remarkable, especially his ability to play multiple instruments with such ease. In fact, his talent inspired me as a young man to continue playing the trumpet throughout my college years. What made the evening even more special was the opportunity to meet Wayne after the show. We spoke briefly about that 1965 performance and how much his music influenced me. It was a full-circle moment I feel truly blessed to have experienced. This show is more than entertainment—it’s a memory in the making. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Las Vegas.
The experience was so fun. Exceeded our expectations. His stories were so interesting and the songs were great. Highly recommend!
This was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen! This man was so funny and engaging and his show was so interesting! What a career this legend has had. We laughed and clapped and yelled and we were thoroughly entertained by Wayne! Our cheeks still ached from laughing and smiling the next day! I would definitely go again!
Wayne guides us through entertainment history in such a beautiful way. From his earliest days to the present, his tribute to legends like Sinatra, Campbell and so many others was just plain wonderful. But it was his duet with Sammy Davis Jr that touched the soul. The piece on Jack Benny made me think of my Mother. Divorced from my father when I was only 5 years old, she sought refuge in South Lake Tahoe. She told me of her meeting Wayne during his lounge act days at Harrahs, how she would escort him through the Casino, and played his albums constantly as I reached the age of 10. In 1964, she bought the album recorded Live at the Crescendo in Hollywood, and while the Beatles, Elvis, and Rock and Roll took center stage back then, I became a fan, especially of his recoding of Danny Boy with his brother Jerry's "A Soldier's Letter" recited after verse 1. When Wayne mentioned Danny Boy, I clapped with anticipation. He didn't sing it on this night, but the show still filled my heart to overflowing. Well done, Mr Las Vegas!
Do not miss this show!!! I am in my 50s and I thoroughly enjoyed this show. It was a walkthrough of his career. So fun and entertaining. The people he has had the pleasure of being friends with, and working with, blows my mind! It is awesome.
