All excursions make me motion sick. Flights, boats, kayaks, elevators. The gyrocopter is the only excursion I didn’t get sick on. Amazing. Loved it.
I am an airline pilot and fly the Boeing 717 for Hawaiian airlines. I learned to fly planes on Maui, in the strong gusty winds that Maui is known for. I have known Armin for 15 years now and have flown with him in Hana several times, and every time I have visitors from Europe coming over, we call Armin and book a flight with his gyrocopter or powered hang glider in Hana. There isn't enough praise in the world I could give Armin. A few weeks ago my goddaughter was visiting us in Maui from Europe and sure enough, she got booked on Armin's gyrocopter and had the time of her life. She wants to become a pilot and having this experience in open air, with the view of the ocean and the mountain and the waterfalls while flying the magical tropical forest hills of Hana - well, there isn't anything better to do when it comes to flying in Maui. If you are trying to decide between a tour on a helicopter out of Kahului or including a stop over at the magical tiny Hana airport and flying with Armin, don't even think about it. You won't experience anything like this anywhere else. If you don't like it, contact me and I'll personally refund you. Armin is a good friend, and heck, I'm sure that if you told him you didn't enjoy it, he'd refund you on the spot too :-)
An Absolutely Breathtaking Experience — Worth Every Second! If you are looking for an unforgettable adventure on Maui, check out a gyrocopter flight with Armin out of Hana Airport. This was truly a fantastic and unique experience — it exceeded every expectation I had. From the moment I arrived, Armin made me feel completely at ease. His professionalism, knowledge, and genuine passion for what he does is immediately evident. He took the time to walk through everything, answered every question with patience and enthusiasm, and made the entire experience feel both safe and adventurous at the same time. His skill as a pilot is exceptional — every maneuver was smooth, intentional, and timed to maximize the best views. The 60-minute flight itself was very cinematic. We flew over the brilliant blue coastline, where the ocean stretched beneath us in every shade of turquoise and sapphire — absolutely stunning from the air. Armin flew us over the iconic cascading waterfalls tucked into Maui’s lush rainforest valleys, and the sight of those ribbons of white water cutting through walls of emerald green was absolutely beautiful. The dramatic ridgelines and valleys of East Maui were a sight to behold. I highly recommend this experience!

I had an amazing time up in the air! Armin is an amazing pilot and guide and we saw incredible sights that would be impossible to see otherwise. We were in the air for a very long time and Armin knew all about the amazing ecosystem below us and shared lots of interesting facts about properties we passed by. This is something that everyone should do if they are able, and I would definitely love to do it again in the future!

I did the Gyro-copter. The next week I did the helicopter ride. If I had only one to choose from, it would DEFINITELY be the gyro-copter. For ME, WAAAAY much more exciting! Totally recommend the experience.

I first met Armin 15 years ago. Maui is a special place. Hana is very special place within Maui. Armin provides a service for you to see Hana that will make it even more special. The experience(both Gyrocopter and Hang Gliding, I have done both)) is fun, gentle and safe for all. I have been up with Armin multiple times and he makes every trip like your first. Highly recommend Hang Gliding Maui.
