Hai mai visto una spiaggia con sabbia nera? A causa della costante attività vulcanica, troverai delle sabbie bianche e delle sabbie nere sull'isola delle Hawaii. Situata sulla costa sud-orientale della Ka'u, Punaluu Black Sand Beach è una delle spiagge di sabbia nera più famose delle Hawaii. Saddle Road, Hawaii, è considerata tra le strade più spettacolari del mondo. Questo è un viaggio di 55 miglia di un'opportunità di un'esperienza di vita. La Route 200 delle Hawaii attraversa tutti e quattro i suoi climi: foreste tropicali, deserto arido, praterie lussureggianti e nebbia nebbiosa in cima alle montagne. Tra le miglia 19 e 23, vedrai alcuni luoghi con colate laviche e giovani vegetazione e alberi. Vicino alla strada puoi vedere dove la lava si è addensata e ha lasciato i cumuli rivelatori di un flusso rallentato. Subito dopo il miglio 23, ti avvicinerai a un famoso punto di riferimento locale, Pu`u Huluhulu, che è un vecchio cono di cenere di Mauna Kea, o kīpuka, ed è circondato da colate di lava più giovani. A questo punto, sei vicino all'altezza del picco per Saddle Road, a circa 1,25 miglia di altitudine - 6.632 piedi. Da qui, continuerai attraverso le conseguenze vulcaniche di centinaia di migliaia di anni di attività lavica mentre ti dirigi verso Belt Road, dove alla fine scenderai a Kona o Waikoloa.

David was a wealth of knowledge and had a great sense of humor. He kept the tour interesting, playing trivia with the group during longer periods of drive time. Gave enough time at each location and was always welcoming questions. Great for any group (except maybe small children). Highly recommend.

Such a great way to see so many interesting things in a single day! David was amazing and shared an incredible amount of knowledge about the island, volcanoes, and everything in between. It was so nice covering so much ground and getting to enjoy all of it from the comfortable seat in the tour van vs trying to drive/park everywhere ourselves. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!
Our experience with Hawai’i Geo Tours was unforgettable, largely because of our guide, Zane. From the start, it was clear he genuinely loves what he does. Zane has a deep understanding of the Big Island and a gift for explaining it in a way that’s easy to follow and actually interesting. He didn’t just point things out—he connected the landscapes to the island’s volcanic history and ongoing changes, which made everything feel more meaningful. What stood out most was how every stop came with context. Whether it was lava fields, coastal views, or a black sand beach, he always had something insightful to share, including cultural details that added depth to the experience. Nothing felt rushed or generic. We also really enjoyed the visit to Heavenly Hawaiian. Zane walked us through the coffee process in a way that made the tasting even better. The coffee itself was excellent. Overall, this tour went beyond expectations. Zane made the island come alive, and we left with a much stronger appreciation for Hawaii than we would have on our own. Highly recommend

We went on an organized tour and would highly recommend that, the park is very big and it is so beautiful and our guide knew where to park and we ate lunch at Volcano House.
