Wat Pho è ampiamente conosciuto come il 'Tempio del Buddha sdraiato'. Non è solo uno dei più grandi complessi di templi di Bangkok, ma anche uno dei più antichi, con origini che risalgono al XVI secolo, molto prima che Bangkok diventasse la capitale della Thailandia. Il tempio è famoso per la sua enorme statua di Buddha reclinabile, che misura 46 metri di lunghezza ed è splendidamente ricoperta di foglia d'oro. Wat Arun, noto anche come il “Tempio dell’Alba”, è uno dei templi più iconici e visivamente suggestivi di Bangkok. Situato sulla riva occidentale del fiume Chao Phraya, nello storico quartiere di Thonburi, la sua elegante silhouette si erge maestosa sull'acqua. Il tempio risale al periodo di Ayutthaya, ma acquistò importanza alla fine del XVIII secolo quando il re Taksin stabilì Thonburi come capitale del Siam dopo la caduta di Ayutthaya. Secondo la leggenda, il re arrivò qui all’alba, ispirando il nome del tempio. Wat Arun è famoso per il suo alto prang centrale in stile Khmer circondato da quattro guglie più piccole. L’intera struttura è decorata con porcellane colorate e frammenti ceramici che scintillano alla luce del sole, creando un notevole effetto mosaico.
