Fantastic experience highly recommend it to everyone...except those with sensitive noses!😀
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 😊 We're delighted to hear that you had a fantastic experience and that you would recommend it to others. And yes... the smell is all part of visiting a protected natural habitat with thousands of sea lions and seabirds! 😄 It's a small reminder that you're experiencing nature exactly as it is. We hope to welcome you back again someday. Thank you for choosing Mar Adentro Excursiones!
We were excited to go on this trip because it had so many positive reviews, but in the end we were a bit disappointed. I'm not sure whether it was because one of our children was sick or because the boat was overcrowded. It was amazing to see the sea lions up close, but we decided not to swim. Honestly, it didn't look very safe, even though almost everyone else jumped into the water. As we approached the island, there was a terrible smell because of the huge sea lion colony, which was quite unpleasant. Overall, I think a private boat would be a much better option, especially if you're traveling with kids. It would likely be a more comfortable and enjoyable experience than joining a large group tour.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're very sorry to hear that your son wasn't feeling well, and we hope he has fully recovered. Regarding the smell, the Palomino Islands are part of a protected natural reserve and home to a large colony of sea lions and seabirds. Because of this, the natural smell can sometimes be quite strong, especially depending on the wind conditions that day. We completely understand that a private tour can often be a more comfortable option, particularly for families with children, as it offers a more personalized experience. However, we hope that despite the inconveniences, seeing the sea lions in their natural habitat was still a memorable experience and one that made the trip worthwhile. Thank you again for your feedback. We truly appreciate it and wish you and your family all the best.
Our tour guide and captain, Rodolfo and Francisco, were absolutely wonderful. Very kind, knowledgeable, and full of jokes and fun facts. The actual swimming with the sea lions was a wonderful once in a lifetime experience. That being said the water on the day we went out was VERY choppy. I regretted not taking medicine for motion sickness in advance. I would also recommend bringing a mask or some kind of facial covering, part of the tour goes past islands covered in guano and the smell is extremely pungent. Overall a great way to spend a day! My whole family had a blast. I just wish we had been better prepared.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're delighted to hear that you had such a memorable experience with Rodolfo and Francisco. We'll be sure to share your kind words with them—they'll be thrilled to know they made your day so special. We're also glad you enjoyed swimming with the sea lions and that your whole family had a great time. It's truly a unique experience! Thank you as well for sharing your helpful suggestions about motion sickness and the guano islands. Sea conditions can vary from day to day, and your advice will certainly help future travelers come better prepared. We really appreciate you choosing us, and we hope to welcome you and your family back for another adventure in the future!
Bring sunscreen! park fee is 11 soles not 4. Guides are great. Very unique experience. Water is cold but the wetsuits provided help.
Thank you for your comment. We always recommend bringing sunscreen for the tour. The entrance fee to the protected natural area is 11 Peruvian soles, which is approximately 4 US dollars depending on the exchange rate. We’re glad you enjoyed the experience! It truly is a unique adventure, and the wetsuit helps make the time in the water much more comfortable and enjoyable.
We saw amazing wildlife including a humpback whale, Humboldt penguins, dolphins, sea lions and numerous bird species. The high light was interacting with the friendly and curious sea lions.

We could not have asked for a better experience than what we got. Everything was very organized and it was a smooth operation. Our guide, Rodrigo, was extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and was an overall fun host. This was a well rounded experience from the personnel side to the incredible opportunity to admire and interact with the coastal wildlife including sea lions, penguins, dolphins, whales, and many more. This was truly an absolute pleasure.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a great experience with us. Rodrigo will be delighted to know that his knowledge, enthusiasm, and hospitality made your adventure even more memorable. We are also happy that you enjoyed the incredible wildlife of Callao, from sea lions and penguins to dolphins and whales. One of the highlights of our tour is the unique opportunity to swim with sea lions, and we're glad you were able to experience the beauty and magic of their natural habitat. Thank you again for choosing us. We hope to welcome you back to Callao for another unforgettable adventure in the future!
This was a very cool experience if you're a nature lover. Even though we only saw a handful of penguins and they were pretty far away, and there was only one or two sea lions swimming through the water when we were there, but it's nature, so not like the guides can force them to interact. You are still able to get up close to the rock where there are hundreds or thousands of them hanging out and watch them. Just floating around in the Pacific and being in that setting was amazing. It's a very wavy ride though (or at least was when we went) so if you're even remotely prone to motion sickness, make sure you take something before going!
Thank you for sharing your experience with fellow travelers and nature lovers! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the unique wildlife and the opportunity to be surrounded by the incredible natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean. As you mentioned, our sea is not always as "Pacific" as its name suggests, and ocean conditions can sometimes be quite lively. However, those same conditions are part of what makes this ecosystem so rich and full of natural attractions, from penguins and sea lions to breathtaking coastal landscapes and marine life. Thank you again for your kind words and for highlighting both the adventure and the beauty of this unforgettable nature experience. We hope to welcome you back for another wildlife encounter in the future!
In just a few words. The tour was fantastic, the good folks operating and running the tour, fantastic. This was one of my favorite tours of all times.
Thank you for being part of this adventure, we're happy that this is a great experience
It was an amazing experience. The seals were very courageous of us and swam right up to us. The smell was thought was horrendous. But was with it to have a baby seal swim right up to you face to face.
We are very glad that you enjoyed this experience called Mar Adentro, in fact the smell is part of the protected natural area, but it is well worth doing the activity.
