Visitare il Museo del Vino della Cantina Frrud equivale a compiere un viaggio nel tempo attraverso secoli di storia durante i quali il vino è l’elemento costante e dove la conoscenza del passato si mescola all’esperienza immersiva nei sapori del presente attraverso la degustazione dei nostri vini abbinati a formaggi e salumi del territorio. Museo del vino Il Progetto la Cantina Frrud nasce circa 3 anni fa dal sogno di due ragazzi della città di Altamura. I termini che possono descriverli sono certamente passione e determinazione; passione nel credere fermamente nelle potenzialità della propria terra e determinazione nel voler non solo preservare, ma anche recuperare un luogo di grande importanza storica, per restituirlo alla città e soprattutto lasciarlo in eredità per le generazioni future. I due giovani, Paolo Colonna e Donato Scalera non nascono come esperti di vino, ma la forte passione che li accomuna per la propria terra e soprattutto per il recupero dei luoghi antichi del territorio locale, li spinge ad imbarcarsi in questo progetto. Un impegno che ha richiesto più di un anno di duro lavoro, in cui l’interesse comune era quello di riportare alla luce il più fedelmente possibile, tutti gli oggetti che erano rimasti conservati nei 70 anni di inattività della struttura. Questo ha permesso di ridare vita a degli oggetti con più di 100 anni di storia e rendere la Cantina un luogo dove è evidente e tangibile il passaggio degli uomini e delle generazioni che hanno letteralmente vissuto quei luoghi, quegli oggetti. La storia, la passione e il sogno si materializzano nel momento in cui la terra con i suoi odori e le sue essenze rientra all’interno della struttura, imbottigliati nei vini presenti in Cantina. Il ritorno del vino restituisce la linfa vitale di tutta struttura, nel racconto di una storia fatta di rispetto per le tradizioni passate, di recupero delle antiche tecniche di vinificazione, ma soprattutto di valorizzazione delle bellezze e della potenza che un prodotto naturale al 100% può regalare. Oggi la Cantina Frrud è un museo aperto al pubblico in cui risulta impossibile non emozionarsi dalla storia raccontata sapientemente dai due giovani e che è visibile a chiunque negli oggetti presenti e nei prodotti all’interno della struttura. Non una semplice visita, ma un’emozione che parte dalla terra viva e che, tramite la passione dei due ragazzi, arriva forte al cuore di chiunque.

Amazing experience. Paolo is knowledgeable and passionate about the work he and his business partner have done to restore a 16th century wine making cellar. You shouldn’t skip this experience! It’s a unique and unforgettable tour.

Amazing experience with Paolo Amazing project they have done to discover and restore this historic winery in heart of Altamura Their passion extends to present day with creating new ecological local wines , we sampled three of them in the wine cave , really enjoyed the tasting . Wine accompanied by focaccia , local bread, local burrata and other cheeses … a wonderful couple of hours and enjoyed chatting with Paolo and learning about the story and historic details , thanks Paolo and good luck with the future plans 🙌🏼🍷🧀

This was, from start to finish, excellent. If you're interested in wine, food or history (I enjoy all three) you'll love this tour. Paolo is knowledgeable and passionate - an excellent guide and host. The museum is a labour of love, this is obvious, and the wine is very tasty. The food paired with the wine is all local and very high quality... I honestly can't think of a better thing to do.
Absurd place nestled in the historic center of Altamura, must see. Paolo a truly magnificent person very prepared. Spectacular wine!!

It was a great experience, Paolo treated you like family. The tour is really relax with time for photos, explore everything and ask all the questions that you want. A treasure that is a must go if you are on the area. The wine tasting is at the cave where the wine was stored years ago with some aperitif and their own olive oil and because it is a small batch, it really a VIP experience. Really good flavors on the primitivo grape with enough body to store for a few years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!🍷
Beautiful discovery! Paolo guided us to explore the places but, even more, the people who lived there and the activities they carried out there. In addition to the blast from the past, it was very interesting to learn about the project behind the Cantina Ffrud and the plans for its future. The visit itself lasted about forty minutes and ended with an excellent tasting, of another forty minutes, based on wines related to the cellar and other (exquisite) local specialties. A further added value of this moment was the opportunity to chat with Paolo about these products and the "philosophy" behind the wines produced. A true model for preserving and Offering the territory and local traditions, projected to the future. Highly recommended.
