"Secondo la tradizione, la chiesa principale fu costruita nel luogo in cui Miadzin discese, Etchmiadzin. Nella visione di Gregorio, Cristo mostra il luogo del tempio principale con un martello d'oro. La cattedrale più antica del mondo, fondata nel 303, era destinata a diventare un importante testimone e partecipante nella storia del popolo armeno. Essendo il centro più importante della rete mondiale della Chiesa armena, la Cattedrale di Etchmiadzin è oggi rappresentata da una vasta area, che comprende molte chiese vecchie e nuove, strutture secolari, biblioteche, un seminario, ecc."
La serie di gloriose chiese del VII secolo continua con St. Gayane, che è stata fondata solo 12 anni dopo St. Hripsime. Questa chiesa, costruita nel 630, fu costruita sulla tomba di una vergine cristiana morta in Armenia tra la fine del III e l'inizio del IV secolo, circa 3 secoli dopo la sua morte. La chiesa fu restaurata nel 1652. Ci sono molte bare nel cortile, tra cui famose figure militari e culturali del popolo armeno.
Secondo gli esperti, l'architettura di Sant'Hripsime è considerata uno dei migliori esempi armeni. Qui, per la prima volta, sono state utilizzate nicchie armene che forniscono resistenza sismica. La costruzione dell'enorme chiesa fu completata nel 618, lasciando dietro di sé una grande eredità architettonica, i cui dettagli sono ancora oggi utilizzati.
Nonostante sia stata distrutta, Zvartnots continua ad essere unica in termini di significato spirituale, culturale e architettonico. Questa enorme chiesa intitolata agli angeli era stata costruita per 9 anni e consacrata nel 652. Il meraviglioso tempio con un'altezza di 46-49 metri è stato distrutto, probabilmente a causa di un terremoto, dopo il quale tali chiese non sono state più costruite in Armenia. L'aspetto reale di Zvartnots fu sconosciuto per molto tempo fino a quando l'architetto T. Toramanian ha proposto la vera forma iniziale della chiesa, che è stata poi dimostrata da altri fatti storici.

It was good to have a direct transportation to the sights and to have an explanation there. Unfortunately, our guide was far from being motivated for his job or interacting with the group or making an individual approach. Maybe he doesn't like his job. I guess sharing a taxi and having the attractions looked up online would have been a way, too.

Tatev is a very atmospheric place, opened up to us through fog and thick clouds. The cable car sank in the fog, sometimes showing below the amazing landscape. Yegor, our guide, gave a very lively and detailed account of the history of the place. Then we went to Hndzoresk. An unusual place whose history stopped not so long ago. The journey was completed at a work of art created by nature itself - a majestic waterfall.
